“Great! Now that we are best friends I can tell you Ruby’s secret!” Darcy clapped her hands out of excitement. “Ruby is really just a girl who lives with her stepparents. She does all the work for them and they treat her like a slave. She doesn’t eat anything because they don’t let her and her clothes are dirty and small because they don’t let her wash them or buy her new ones. All day, she cooks and cleans and does whatever they ask her to do. Who would want to be friends with a slave girl? They always beat her and stuff, so why would I want to be around someone like that? Imagine I wanted to talk to her about what normal people talk about. I wouldn’t be able to because she doesn’t understand that stuff. Plus she’s an orphan, and that makes it even worse. Who wants to be friends with a sad person who hates her life because both her parents are dead? Not me!”
“Well I would!” Meg yelled as she jumped up. “Why does it matter if her parents are dead and her stepparents are not nice to her? That is no excuse to not befriend her! And who are you to stereo type someone because her parents are dead? Is that what you think about me too? Yes Miss Darcy, I am an orphan too! I moved her because my parents died, and believe me living in an orphanage is not easy! But if living in a house like this makes you a crummy, rude, spoiled, ill mannered girl, then I would much rather live in the orphanage I live in now, even if the owners are cheap rats. Don’t you dare look at me like that, Darcy. As if you didn’t mean what you said after you found out I was an orphan! You are a horrible person, and even the children of Satan are better than you!”
With that, she stormed right out of the house, but not before Darcy yelled, “You are going to regret that choice Margret Chase!
