"We only have three more days until we meet our mystery man," Meg said. "Are you excited, Ruby?"

"Yes, I am. I really want to know who he is, and I want to thank him," Ruby stated.  "Let's not talk about this. It will make time move slower."

"Okay then what do you want to do?" Charlie asked.

""Oh I have a great idea," Meg said, a smile on her face.

"I don't trust your smile," Charlie frowned.

"Why not? I only was going to suggest basketball," She said innocently.

"No way," Charlie disagreed.

"Why not?" Meg demanded an answer.

"We need to plan our meeting," Charlie said quickly.

"We could take a break," Ruby offered with a giggle.

"Alright Ruby!" Meg exclaimed, giving her a high five.

"Really Rue?" Charlie asked. "Why don't you play against Meg?"

"Well, she wants to play against you, not me," Ruby pointed out.

"I don't care, I won't play," Charlie said stubbornly.

"Why? Are you afraid to lose?" Meg teased.

"What??? No way! It's just that, I don't want my dad to see. He will never let go of it," Charlie said.

"Did someone say Dad?" Mr. Baker asked, sticking his head in the room.

"Yes you did," Meg said quickly, before Charlie could deny it. "Charlie doesn't want to play basketball with me because he is afraid to lose, and he doesn't want you to see him lose."

Mr. Baker started to laugh. "Oh this is a game I have to see. You are definitely not backing out of this, or are you a chicken?"

"You know, that has a nice ring to it. Charlie the chicken," Meg thought aloud, and everyone started to laugh.

"Fine, I'll play," Charlie said reluctantly. "Let's get this over with.

****************

By the time the game was over, Mr. Baker was rolling on the floor, laughing. "That was too funny for words! Oh Meg, you were great!"

Ruby went to comfort Charlie. "It's okay. It's not the end of the world that Meg beat you. You could always practice, and become better."

"I could help you practice," Mr. Baker said. "Since your mother and I are staying home a lot more often."

"Really?" Charlie asked, his mood going from sorrow to jubilant. Charlie was so happy; he turned around and hugged Ruby. He picked her up and twirled her. "Oh sorry. I am just so happy!"

"I can tell," she said. "But wouldn't it make sense to hug your dad?"

"Oh, yeah," he said, looking sheepish. Then, he turned and hugged his dad. "It's just well, Ruby was the closest to me."

"Sure," Meg said, making everyone laugh again.

"Come on guys, let's go eat," Charlie said as he headed towards the house.

"Are you really hungry?" Mr. Baker asked him.

"Of course! We ate an hour ago!" Charlie explained.
