"Santana, I have no time to go to college, I have a child to take care of. Do you know what I fucking need? A job."
The Latina scoffed at her best friend, holding a 1-year-old Isabella.
"You literally finished your pre-med during college, it's only been what? 2 years since you took that medical exam thing that you spent 4 years studying for-"
"You mean the MCAT?"
Sanatana froze, looking at her best friend in disbelief.
"What? MCAT? Like the animal cat?"
Michelle shook her head and chuckled, gently grabbing her daughter from her godmother.
"Yes, cat with an M in front."
"I thought you were planning on operating on people, not animals."
Mitch slowly turned her head to her best friend, looking to see if she was serious.
"What? Santana- MCAT means the Medical College Admission Test, it has nothing to do with cats themselves. I mean, some veterinary schools accept the MCAT I guess but just because the word cat is in the name, it means that it has everything to do with cats."
Santana rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders, not really caring.
"Whatever, but I know that you were planning on going to medical school until that bastard stole your freedom away from you, and now that you have your freedom back, we're giving it."
Isabella started crying so Mitch started softly shushing her, slowly lulling her to sleep. Michelle had her head tilted as she watched her daughter's hazel eyes slowly close.
"First of all, I am not free. Jonathan still has to sign those damn divorce papers. Second, even if I wanted to I won't be able to pay the tuition fee. With Isabella, having to raise her, putting a roof over her head and feeding us both, and the mishap with that bastard draining my bank account, I could barely afford an apartment."
Santana looked at her best friend with soft eyes, feeling angry that she had to go through that, but happy that she had the guts to finally divorce the bastard.
"Which is why...."
Michelle looked at her friend curiously as she was handed an envelope. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at it confused.
"What is this?"
"Open it."
She slowly grabbed it. She was about to turn it around, but then another envelope was given to her.
"What? 2?"
"Just open it."
With reluctance, Michelle grabbed the other envelope, deciding to open it first.
