TW for both part 2 and part 3: Mentions of eating disorders, mentions of suicide, mentions of drowning, some flashbacks to Glory Days, rape and SA, and Rachel Berry (she's a trigger warning in itself)
September 4, 2002 - Senior Year
Rachel and Kurt sat across from Emma Pillsbury, the guidance counselor for McKinley High, both of them there to talk about wanting to attend Julliard. "We have an important announcement to make."
"I thought this day might come. This is the only dating combination that the Glee Club hasn't tried." Emma said with too much enthusiasm.
Which made both Rachel and Kurt grimace while they were handed a pamphlet with a cover that said 'Me and my Hag'.
"We're not dating."
"Kurt and I will be auditioning for Julliard, the nation's premier performing arts school."
"That's a very good plan, guys. Except, Julliard doesn't have a musical theatre department."
Both Rachel and Kurt sat up from their seats. "Wait what? But Michelle is planning on sending an application to Julliard."
"She's planning on taking up Dance and Violin, I would encourage you both to do those programs as well but as far as I am concerned, you both do not know how to play any musical instruments.... or dance."
Kurt and Rachel looked at each other. Emma felt the tension so she tried to awkwardly break it. "Have you guys thought about somewhere closer to home? Kent State has a wonderful musical theatre program..."
"No."
"...And a macabre back-story, so if you're having a bad day or if you don't get the lead in the musical you can say to yourselves, you know what, things really could be worse."
Rachel glanced at Kurt before shaking her head. "No. No, thank you. No one ever became a star by playing it safe."
"We're going to New York."
"I think I have the perfect school for you," Emma leaned down and got a booklet, handing it to both of them.
New York Academy of Dramatic Arts
.
"Okay, so you're going to set up the props, I'll plug in the boom box and we'll launch immediately into the number. Our somewhat talented but sadly delusional competition will just rip up their applications in fits of jealous rage." Rachel walked beside Kurt, both of them entering the place where the mixer is currently being held. They wandered around for a while before pointing at the sign. "Oh, there it is!"
Kurt hooked his arms around Rachel's and smiled excitedly. "And they'll all just melt away like the Wicked Witch of the West herself!"
"You know what? I kinda feel sorry for them..."
