All A Lie part 28

-5 months later-

Betty's pov:

After the night I told Jug about what had happened he had been very protective over me. If we ever went out to eat he would hold me close to him the whole time. He would make sure close to the bar and whenever some wasted dude would hit on me he would come over and kiss me, and if they didn't back off then they would be out very quickly due to Jug's death stares.

A month ago Harper had turned one. She had had an amazing birthday party, just like how we did it last year. And of course, Jug let her smash cake into her mouth like last year. Jug and Harper's father-daughter relationship was one of the best, it was better then the tv shows. It was the cutest thing ever, and I knew that Jug was going to be way overprotective over her when she started dating.

Now Jug and I, we had been great. I had recently turned 20 and Jug had gotten Toni to distract me by taking me shopping, then when we came home it turned out that Jug had thrown me a surprise party. It was amazing and we all had an amazing time. Then now it came, it was Jug's birthday. I had sent Jug out for some groceries, so we had some time to buy so we could set it up for the birthday party.

H-"Mommy where is Daddy?"

B-"Daddy went shopping"

H-"Why?"

B-"So we can set up for his birthday party"

H-"Yay!"

I laughed slightly as she ran off to Toni who was putting balloons above the door.

H-"Can I have one TT?"

T-"Sure"

He handed a purple balloon to Harper and Harper threw it up in the air then started to run where it flew.

Toni and I giggled at her as we were hanging the rest of the decorations. We started to hand the last streamer when Jug walked in the back door.

J-"Wow, what's all this?"

H-"Surprise Daddy!"

Harper ran and jumped in Jug's arms as he set the bag of groceries down.

J-"Aw! All of this for me!"

I climbed down the latter and walked over to him.

B-(tears)"I'm sorry. This was supposed to be an amazing birthday party for you but I failed"

J-"Baby, you didn't have to do this, it's okay"

B-"No! It's not okay, you always do all these great things for me and I can't do one thing for you without screwing it up" (cries)

J-"Come here"

He pulled me to his chest while still having Harper on his hip.

J-"Shhh, it's okay love. You didn't screw anything up. All I want for my birthday is to be able to spend it with my family, and that's all I need"

He kissed the top of my head and rubbed my back.

B-"I'm sorry" (sniffles)

J-"For what?"

B-"I've been so emotional lately, I don't even know why"

J-"Don't apologize for that. It just gives me another reason to hold you in my arms" (smiles)

B-"Thank you, and happy birthday"

H-"Happy Birthday Daddy!"

J-"Thank you both"

He held both of us close to his chest and planted a kiss on Harper's forehead before leaning in and kissing my lips.

B-"I love you"

J-"I love you too"

H-"And me!"

J-"And you too" (chuckles)
