All A Lie part 19

After we had finished cleaning up I took Harper and changed her then put her to bed, then I started to clean and organize our room. Since Harper was now one she was needing a few more things, and soon enough she would be needing a toddler bed. And it's already crowed enough with all her clothes and toys, plus she's crawling and starting to walk so I've had to baby proof everything. Jug had already offered to move into his office so Harper could have his room but I told him I would figure it out.

Once I was done cleaning I took a quick shower and changed into some pajamas then laid down on my bed, but for some reason I couldn't close my eyes. The fear of the ghoulies coming after Harper and I was keeping me awake. Even thought I knew that Jug, Toni, Sweetpea, and Fangs would do anything to protect us, I wasn't sure about the rest of the serpents. I wasn't one of their kinds and I had only just showed up here out of the blue then ended up living here, so I'm not sure if they would protect Harper and I. Although...they might protect us more if I was one of them...

-The next day-

Toni and I had just opened the bar and we were finishing the dishes when I decided to bring up the topic I had been thinking about all night.

B-"Hey Toni..."

T-"Yeah?"

B-"So, say that I wanted to become a serpent, officially...what would I have to do to become one?"

A big smile appeared on her face, yet as she opened her mouth someone else answered for her.

?-"You gotta do the serpent dance"

We both looked over as our first customer sat down at the bar. She looked a little bit older and had whom looked to be a 14 year old girl behind her. The teenage girl looked familiar for some reason.

T-"Gladys Jones..."

B-"Serpent dance? What's the serpent dance?"

?-"Oh, you're new" (smirks)

T-"Betty, go get Jug"

B-"Okay..."

I walked out from behind the bar and walked upstairs into Jug's office where he had Harper on his lap and they were coloring.

J-"And what's this color?"

H-"Blue!"

J-"Well...it's green, but those are easy to mix up"

B-(giggles)"Um Jug, there's someone here and Toni wanted me to come get you"

J-"Okay, come on Harp let's go see who it is"

He picked Harper up and carried her downstairs with me following behind. Yet as soon as he came faced with the woman at the bar...he froze.

Ju-"Mom?!"

The teenage girl's head shot up and when Jug saw her a smile broke out on his face as she ran and jumped in his arms.

Ju-"Jelly!"

I finally knew who these people were, Jug's mom and little sister. As they pulled away Jelly's eyes went to Harper and she stayed clutched to Jug.

G-"Well who's this cutie"

Gladys walked up to him and reached her hand out to Harper but she hid her face in the crook of his neck.

Ju-"This is Harper...and this is Betty"

He turned to me and grabbed my hand then pulled me close to him.

Je-"Am I finally going to have a sister!?"

The redness rose to our cheeks while Jug smiled at me.

Ju-(chuckles)"Um, w-well"

B-"Yeah, I can be your sister" (smiles)

She cheered in excitement then came over to me and wrapped her arms around my waist.

B-"How about we go up to my room and we can watch a movie"

Je-"Okay!"

I took Harper and put her on my hip then smiled at Jug while he came down close to my ear.

Ju-"You don't have to do this" (whispers)

B-"It's okay, I want to" (whispers)

Ju-"Okay, I'll tell Toni you're taking the day off"

B-"Thank you"

We both smiled at each other before I took Jelly and we both walked upstairs and into my room.
