-3 months later-

B-"Veronica you really shouldn't be at work right now, you're 9 months pregnant"

V-"Yeah well you're 4 months pregnant and your still here"

B-"But I'm not about to pop"

V-"Well I-"

She stopped mid sentence and scrunched her eyebrows in pain.

B-"Veronica?"

V-"S-Sorry, what were u saying?"

B-"V I think you're in labor"

V-"What? N-No, I'm fine"

B-"Veronica-"

V-"I'm fine, Betty. Just...get back to work"

B-"Okay, sorry"

I did what she said and got back to work.

Veronica and I had become best friends over the course of 3 months. We shared ultrasound pictures and I even met her husband, Reggie. He was very nice and played with Harper, which made Veronica and Harper very happy. Me, I was just sitting there in heartache while the memories of Jughead and Harper playing together flooded my mine and brought tears to my eyes. It broke me. But I was only to blame myself, I had fallen in love Jughead Jones and I pushed my feelings away and hurt everybody I loved.

But despite the fact that I had been suffering from heart ache, I had had some accomplishments in these past 3 months. I had finally gotten enough money together to rent an apartment. It wasn't big, but it was something. I had gotten Harper into daycare. And I had seen my little baby for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I wish I had had Jughead beside me, but Harper kept me company and was overjoyed that she was going to be a big sister.

But Harper also asked why she hadn't seen Daddy in such a long time, she really missed him and it broke my heart to see my daughter sad. I always tried to make her feel better by telling her stories about him, they usually helped. And they helped me too, the stories never failed to make either one of us smile.

As I got back to working I started to take a nice young couples order when there was a loud sound of something hitting the floor. We all looked over to Veronica who had dropped a coffee pot and she was standing in horror while looking at the floor as she clutched her stomach in pain. I rushed over to her and almost slipped on the clear liquid on the floor.

B-"Oh my god, V, your water broke! We have to get you to a hospital"

V-(cries)"C-Can you call Reggie?"

B-"Of course, I'll call him on the way there. Now let's get you to the car after this contraction ends"

We waited a couple of seconds before the contraction ended and I ran and grabbed her purse before bringing her out to my car and setting her down in the passenger seat. I then ran over to the drivers seat and started the car before driving off with Veronica sobbing in pain.

V-"W-What if I'm not ready to be a mother, she deserves something who can be a good mother. Not me, I didn't even pass the birthing classes"

B-"Wait, is this why you've been denying that you're in labor all day...because you're scared you won't be a good mother?"

She nodded and I grabbed her hand and she squeezed it while groaning in pain.

B-"Veronica, you're going to be an amazing mother. And listen, I know it's scary, believe me. But it's also so amazing when you see your beautiful baby open their eyes for the first time. And when they're set on your chest with tears streaming down my face, you could never feel anymore happiness in the world"

V-"R-Really?"

B-"Really. Now let me call Reggie and tell him to meet us at the hospital"

V-"Okay, thank y-ow! Fuck it hurts!" (cries)

B-"I know it hurts, just hang in there we're almost at the hospital"

-A couple of hours later-

B-"Come on V, just one more push, you can do it"

V-"I can't do it!" (sobs)

R-"Yes you can babe, just one more push, you got this"

He kissed her forehead and squeezed her hand while Veronica let out a scream. And we soon heard the screaming cries of her baby. Veronica continued to sob as her whaling baby girl was placed on her chest.

R-"You did it baby, I'm so proud of you"

He bent down and kissed Veronica passionately. I tried not to show how much I wanted to break down and cry for Jughead...but I was still really happy for my friend.
