After endless searching and childish fighting over what wrapping is more suitable for the present, we finally decided on one.
I didn't think that it would be this hard to accomplish such thing, since it was just a goddamn wrapping and nothing more. But it appears that an immature dillweed decided to butt in and state his opinion in every single option the employer was showing us.
So, as usual, we started bickering and debating over everything, as if we were kids fighting over candy.Thankfully, we settled on something that we both liked equally, but, considering that we took so long just to choose a forking wrapping, I really don't want to know, how long it will take us for the birthday cake...
We started wandering around the Mall and surprisingly enough, it didn't take us long to spot a very cute pastry shop, with all sorts of cakes and desserts.
We glanced at each other and as if in cue, we entered the shop, not needing to exchange any words. The soft ring of the bell and the cool breeze of the air condition, were the first things to notice while entering in, before glueing my attention to the heavenly variety of sweets.
Pushing my cravings for chocolate back, I searched for the cake display and spotted it in a near corner.
I tagged on Chan's shirt and aggressively dragged him towards the cake range, snapping him from his daydream about some cream puffs he was, obsessively, looking since the very first minute we stepped a foot in here.Once we approached the glassy fridge full of all different kinds of cakes, my eyes fixated on some cute ones, that looked to be proper enough, for a mother's birthday cake.
A couple of seconds later, I felt a soft nudging on my arm and I turned to look at the boy beside me. "What?", I asked indifferently.
"We should have brought popcorn with us.", I couldn't see his face, as he had turned to look somewhere else inside the shop.
"Why?", now I got curious at the random statement of his.
He lifted his hand and pointed at the register table. "Watch this.", he told me and I did.
Slightly titling my head to the side and looking over Chan's shoulder, my eyes followed his finger, that was leading to a chaotic scene.
Two employees were running frantically around the table, while a middle-aged woman, that seemed to be the employer, was furiously yelling at the phone. Her face was red from the anger and veins were popping at her temples, whilst her shouts were overpowering the soft music playing on the background.
"What is happening..?", I trailed off slowly, my eyes had turned big from the shocking scene unwrapping in front of me.
"Someone canceled on their order.", he replied, his eyes glued at the three, fuming with rage, people, as well.
"Oh...", I nodded my head and turned my body entirely to the front, so that I could be more comfortable while watching.
Chan seemed to do the same and now, we were sitting side by side, looking at the unfamiliar people with the most indiscreet way possible.
"You do realise, that we are behaving like some gossiping old ladies, right?", I spoke lowly in his ear, but still, remained in my position."Okay, then presume to choosing the cake and we will never find out what happened. Go on.", he shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, with a knowing smirk.
A smirk that was tempting me to wipe it off, because he knew I was as entertained by the chaotic situation as he was. "Okay, maybe one minute more...", I whispered and looked back at the register, him doing the same.
For the following minutes, we stood there, slightly bending in hopes to be less noticeable, both trying to understand what all this fuss was about.
"From what I've gathered, it seems like a couple had ordered an anniversary cake, but they broke up and they are canceling the order.", I whispered close to his face and pointed at the cake on the register table, where the two employees were still running around.
"What a waste... It has kinder bueno and maltesers on top...", I mumbled with a pout, as I couldn't take my eyes off of this sweet indulgence.
"Oh Gosh, it even has ferrero rosser!", I silently gasped with a whinny tone.
