The hyper-active bridezilla drew open the door with huge eyes. Chan and Olivia gulped. "Chan! Olivia!" Mia expressed with much enthusiasm and engulfed them in a hug, something that took the couple by surprise. They expected all sorts of things from Mia and this, was not one of them. "My beloved best man and maid of honor! Haha...!"
"M-Mia—!" they choked. Somehow, Mia's reaction was more terrifying than usual. She was being too... polite. Hugging and welcoming them after arriving late, looking like wet cats. What was up with her?
"It's good to see you guys! Good morning!" she squeezed them in her embrace like a mother owl, Chan with her right shoulder and Olivia with her left.
"U-Uh... What's happening..?" Olivia glanced at Chan through Mia's back, eyes wide open.
"You tell me, she's your best friend. Is this norm—"
Suddenly, Mia's grip tightened painfully around them. Her menacing voice whispered in their ears, "Both of you shut up before I skin you alive for pulling this stunt on me right before my wedding."
Now this was the Mia they knew and feared. I mean—loved.
"The videographer assigned for my wedding videos is here, so I suggest you both behave. Do not embarrass me."
Slowly, both Chan and Olivia glanced around the room, in search of said videographer. They spotted an unfamiliar, feminine figure moving around the room with, what seemed to be, a very expensive video camera. Her sharp eyes focused on the camera, that seemed to be video taping everyone's moves very thoroughly. All the bridesmaids were there, either chatting and laughing or getting their make up done. Their moves were highly calculated, no one dared to yawn or sneeze and ruin the tape. Mia's instructions, apparently.
So this is why she was so kind to us...
"Oh..." Chan and Olivia exclaimed. They didn't know what else to say, or do for that matter. They weren't famous for their poised and calculated behaviour in front of people, quite the opposite actually. It was best to remain silent.
Mia continued whispering low in their ear. "I knew I should have let Minho have Soonie, Doongie and Dori bring the wedding rings down the aisle. But no! I thought that human beings were more responsible than cats! So stupid of me to think that," she tug her freshly painted french nails in their shoulders and they winced, but kept a poker face for the sake of the wedding video. The things they did for Mia...
She pulled them away from her chest and with a fake smile of blissfulness, Mia turned to the videographer. "This is my best man and maid of honor!" she presented the couple, only to suppress a yelp upon seeing the terrible state they were in. Foreheads sweaty, clothes wrinkled, hair a bird nest. The wedding video was already going down hill... "Ahem! You'll have to excuse them as they now need to get ready for the wedding! You can video tape someone else, hmm?" she offered to the woman, not leaving her a chance to respond.
"Now now," she pulled them away from camera's view and said in a hushed tone. "Chan, you go two floors down, where the groomsmen are getting ready. You'll find the room easily, these boys are too loud for their own good..." she sighed upon saying that. "And you, Olivia," her eyes sharpened on the girl. "You come with me... You stink," she picked up Olivia's strap and dragged her to the bathroom, like picking up the trash.
Olivia glanced behind her shoulder and waved Chan goodbye. Goodbye as in, I might never see you again because Mia might drown me in the toilet, sort of way. Chan let out a chuckle and blew her a kiss. A goodbye kiss as in, I'll see you in the afterlife, my shortcake girlfriend, kind of way.
