After the incident, Wei Wuxian had decided to home school himself and not return to campus unless he was there to pick up Jiang Cheng or Shijie. And on some occasions he would run into Wen Chao and his brother. Everytime an altercation would abrupt, and even after everything Wei Wuxian would still manage to beat him up. The school tried to reason with both households about the situation, but due to Wen Chao's records he was unable to fully get away with the incident and was finally expelled. Wei Wuxian on the other hand would need to continue his classes online only. This was fine with him.
As for the coat left behind by Lan Wanji, his scent ended up mixing with the scent left on the coat. And it would be the only thing that would bring him comfort during his heat. As embarrassing as it was, he still refused to get rid of it. However, after that day he never saw Lan Wanji again. Never would he see him leave the school, or see him be at family functions. From what he had heard from his friend Huisang, apparently his family was informed of the situation and thus decided to remove him from the school altogether. They didn't want him to be associated with the likes of Wen Chao and his family. Nor did they want him to be supposedly tainted by Wei Wuxian and his toxic behaviors.
This was not a surprise to Wei Wuxian, but at the same time he felt ashamed and guilty over it all. He wanted to apologize. So with nothing else to do he wrote a letter and gave it to Huisang who was close to the eldest brother of the Lan family, which allowed him to come over every now and again. He had him deliver the letter to Lan Wanji. However, he never got a response.
At his home Lan Wanji, sat in his room with the letter in hand. When he lifted it just a slight bit closer to his face he could smell the sweet smell of apples, and peony flowers. This was something he always smelled before whenever Wei Wuxian would bother him in class, and yet he could never get used to such a scent. He carefully unfolds the letter and reads.
Dear, Lan Zhan
I'm writing to say thank you for helping that day. I honestly didn't expect you of all people to help me. And I was honestly mortified that you were the one to help me. I could care less about my name being thrown everywhere. But I'd die of shame to let your name be dragged too. In the end though it was your choice so what can I say? I'm grateful. At the same time, I'm still ashamed that you had gotten affected by my actions and were removed from the school. Had I had known this were to happen, I would have turned away your help and just taken that assault like any other battle wound. Haha! I'm not afraid of pain. I'd rather be the one to take pain than to let another suffer from it. Though I know it may be better if you stayed away from the school, cause let's be honest the kids there are terrible no matter what, but you get some peace and quiet right? I know I've bothered you more than once and it drove you insane haha! I know you're not a bad person or bad alpha. You're pretty funny in your own way. So it was fun to mess with you. But forget my rambling, in any case I'm sorry. I really am. Um, I'm also punished by being left home to handle my own school work, but my mother or rather..Jiang Cheng's mother is prepared to kick me out. So I don't know when I'll ever see you again in the future. But if I do I promise to thank you and apologize in person, and to return your coat. Though I'm gonna have to bow several times more cause by then my scent will be all over it and I don't know if I can remove it. Soooo that's all I wanted to tell you. Thank you and I hope you have a good rest of your life for now.
