After a night hunt with Lan Zhan, along their journey to find the ones responsible for everything that has happened since his resurrection, Wei Wuxian decides to rest a bit earlier than usual. But his dreams of the reality of his past haunt him and cause such disturbances that even Lan Zhan can not wake him with his music. What can he do to help his friend?@acidrain22 Here ya go dear friend!
Wei Wuxian plants himself on the bed of their room as he lets out a frustrating sigh. He felt like all of his newfound life energy was just being wasted so carelessly. From the moment he had stepped out of that room, he felt the world just react immediately with some instant karma. He made his mistakes. He does not regret anything, except for only one thing. The Stygian Tiger Amulet. It was his creation that had led the war to end with the Wen Clan, and yet it was the same object to curse his life into being what it is now. There was never a day that he didn't think back to the past, and how things could have been. But there are some secrets that revolved around his choices, and those same secrets he carried all the way to his grave.
However, now that he was back he was willing to correct his wrongs and clear his name. Thanks to his close friend, Lan Wangji, he now had proof that he was set up all those years ago. So much blood was shed, and for the longest time, he really believed that it was all on his hands. In a sense it was, but when someone else decided to work behind the scenes it became an entirely different story. Ever since he was dragged to the Cloud Recesses after the incident at Mo Manor, he had been having more and more flashbacks. And sometimes he would often himself dreaming of the old days as well. Of course, his nightmares would come to haunt him, but he would accept them with open arms regardless. He knew what he had done. He knew what he had accomplished. And he knew of his secrets. It was best to accept them than to just let them control him.
"Wei Ying,"
He turns his entire body around to his old friend who stared at him with a steady gaze.
"Hm?"
"What's the matter?"
Wei Wuxian sighs and sits up with a small curve to the side of his lips. There was nothing you could ultimately hide from those eyes of the great disciple of the Lan Clan. He was sharp enough to read anyone like an open book.
"Lan Zhan...how often do you think of the past...?"
He stares at him without giving an answer.
"I don't like to dwell on it, but lately... I feel like all I can do is just think of everything that had happened,"
Lan Wangji's eyes gaze down to the ground as he listens to his words. He could not respond to him. He was always dwelling on the past. Always searching. Always taking on any punishment he could for the one he cared for the most. The one he believed in more than anyone. The one who made him realize right from wrong. And truly opened his eyes to the reality of everything he has ever been taught.
"You don't have to respond to me...but if there was one thing I could change....it would have been my carelessness,"
He lays back down and chuckles.
"Wei Ying...."
"Lan Zhan....why did you choose me...? You hated everything I did but was always on my side when it came to my actions. Even though you would occasionally try to change things, you still stood by me through thick and thin,"
"..."
"You were hesitant, but you never fully tried to stop...until the end that is.....but at that time I deserved it...."
Lan Wangji turns to him and opens his mouth to protest, but stops himself. Did he have much of a right to say anything? On that day, Wei Wuxian forced is hand to make him let go. His wish to fall to his death, and give up on living. Did he really have the right to say anything against it? He wasn't too sure. But his selfish desires would speak for themselves if they could. On that day he wanted to save him, wanted to believe in him. He wanted to keep him by his side. He should have been by his the entire time. But he wasn't. And that was his biggest regret.
