DECIDED THAT ONCE THIS PART IS OVER, AND WE PASS WEI WUXIAN'S DEATH I WILL DO A CHAPTER WITH WANGJI'S POINT OF VIEW AFTER HIS DEATH AND RAISING SIZHUI SO WE CAN GET A GLIMPSE OF HOW THAT WAS.

VISIT TO THE BURIAL MOUNDS

Months have gone by since Wei Wuxian had defected from his previous clan, and rejected his mate Lan Wangji. The spark that had illuminated across their bond, and creating a deep connection had now begone to fade once more. They were never speaking to each other, and if Wangji attempts to call him, he would ignore his call. These small interactions would usually happen once a month to avoid major damage, but after just three months, the bond had finally reached its limit once more. Now neither one could hear the other, feel their emotions, or call to each other like they did before. It was always so hard to build it, but it was so easy to break it. However, Wei Wuxian decided it was best. It was best to just forget about the bond entirely.

Nowadays, he was doing many things. Inventing new tools, messing with fierce corpses, and helping out all over the little community that the Wens have built. Whenever he was free he would go ahead and mess around with the little one of the group, A-Yuan. They would around, talk, play, and he would even teach him some of his own tricks and pranks he had previously pulled long ago. Despite not being in the Jiang Clan anymore, and not having his mate, the feeling of loneliness wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be. His bond with the Wens have grown very much, and to him they were like a second family. A family that was more true than his previous one. They treated him with respect, and treated him as one of their own. They knew of the misdeeds of their clan, and know that things were terrible. They knew that some of their own were slaughtered, but they also knew that they deserved it. They were lucky to have made it out alive, and lucky to now have the protection of someone who was now being pushed out of the cultivation world himself. As sad as it was, he was willing to continue down this path. A path involving just perfecting his craft, farming, playing, and staying out of sight on most days. This was a life Wei  Wuxian actually pictured of having at the end of his days. Though when he was younger, he often dreamed of having someone at his side to share it with. Not just a family member, no. He often pictured a partner. Should he ever dream of such things again, his partner in his dreams would always turn out to be Lan Wangji. Even though the two have not seen, nor spoken to each other in so long, he still wanted a possible future. No. Not just wanted. He craved for a future with him. But even he knew that such a fantasy could never come true. For the time being he would need to just continue with days, and keep his most selfish desires tucked away in the back of his mind and heart, no matter how much it hurt.

Today was as normal as any other, and so Wei Wuxian decided it was time to go out and purchase some potatoes. And joining him for this small adventure was A-Yuan. The little boy hugged the very bottom of his robe, as he followed closely beside him so that he wouldn't be lost. But he was a child after all, and would easily get distracted. Once Wei Wuxian finds the stand he was looking for he begins to make his purchase, but he begins to feel as if it was too quiet around him. He glances down and notices that the child that was with him was no gone. He forgets about his purchase and runs off with a hand to his mouth.

"A-Yuan..?!" he calls. He turns every which way and begins to panic. He would never be able to live with himself should anything happen to that little boy, who he often saw as his own child. He pauses in his state of madness, and hears the sound of a very familiar cry. He looks around and spots a massive crowd surrounding something. He wanders over and shoves his way through as he listens to the cries of a child calling for his father. And listens to the whispers of the town folk around him.

"Who is that young man? Is that his son?"

"Tsk, tsk, he must be a new father,"

"How irresponsible to just let your child cry like that,"
