Anthony Lawrence

Movie theaters weren't really my thing. I always preferred watching movies at home alone or together with people that I liked. Though, I couldn't turn down my friends' invitations forever. It would make me feel guilty.

It was also a good distraction from all the negative thoughts that were slowly starting to make me go insane.

"Jasmine, you are literally eating like a pig!" Cole hissed. "I can't understand anything they're saying."

"Then you're either dumb or deaf," Jasmine retorted provocatively, crunching even louder on her popcorn. "Why are you putting all the blame on me?"

She gave Cole a mock innocent look, making Oliver who was sitting next to me laugh softly before his eyes wandered back to the movie.

He was probably the only one out of us four who was actually watching the movie. Since the movie started, Jasmine and Cole couldn't seem to keep their mouths shut, bitching over every little thing.

Whereas I tried my hardest to prevent my thoughts from drifting away to things or more precisely a certain person.

Everything that happened to me weighed heavily on me. But what somehow bothered me even more were the few things I have done wrong. Even if some of these incidents could be seen as self-defense it didn't make me feel better.

Leaving Sam at this hellhole, making a deal with Leah, or poisoning Elias to escape. I shouldn't care about all these things. Yet, I couldn't stop myself from doing exactly that.

A few days ago, I intended on coming clean with Elias about all these things by inviting him to go bowling with me and Oliver in order to heal my guilt. It wasn't my smartest idea, that I admit. However, he never showed up anyway.

Which kind of disappointed me.

"Jasmine stop." Cole whispered angrily to not enrage the people that were sitting in the rows in front of us, bringing me back to reality.

Jasmine took a handful of popcorn and jokingly threw it into Cole's face. Instead of acting mature he decided to do the exact same thing to Jasmine, making her shriek in disgust.

"Guys, we're at a public place not in fucking kindergarten. Look at the mess you did!" I exclaimed in a harsh tone.

Suddenly, the people in front of us turned around, complaining about me being too loud. I just wanted to crawl into a hole out of embarrassment in that exact moment.

"Oh, shut up." Jasmine snapped at them. "He's actually the responsible one out of us four."

"I didn't do anything as well." Oliver defended himself. "I was just silently watching the movie."

"You were silently supporting us, Oli. That's a difference." Jasmine blinked one eye, making Oliver crease his dark eyebrows together in confusion.

As if to draw even more attention to the four of us, my phone suddenly started ringing. I quickly took my phone out of my pocket, blush rising to my cheeks, ignoring the people that now  threatened us to get us kicked out of the movie theater.

"I take back what I just said about you being responsible. At least our phones are on silent." Jasmine said teasingly, putting a smile on my face.

However, it faded as I saw that I got a weird text message from an unknown number.
