Elias Easton"Hey Kai, long time no see," I greeted Kai with a fake smile, one of my guards and apparently the one who stole my best friend's heart.
"Hello Mr. Easton, I hope things are going great with your husband," he greeted back and concentrated back on guarding my mansion. He was acting like he was completely innocent and probably thought that this conversation was already over. I was just getting started.
"Things are fine, I'll admit that it is not always easy, but there isn't a thing such as an uncomplicated relationship," I said truthfully. The dinner with Anthony had been quite stressful and completely different from what I've expected. I thought that it would get us closer together, but he still kept his distance and acted like I was up for something bad.
All the people around me are seriously making me sick.
I was losing control over my life and the feeling of loneliness formed a big hole inside of me, that didn't stop growing. I had the strong urge to just punch someone in the face.
I knew that I couldn't hit Kai without a reason. Especially not if I wanted to avoid stress with Eric. But maybe he would give me one, without having to search for it.
"Relationships are never easy." He laughed, which made me raise an eyebrow.
"Do you talk from experience?" I asked him, leaning against the wall.
"Uhh...kind of," he replied watching me skeptically. He didn't have an appearance that made him stand out. He was totally average with a normal height, brown eyes and brown hair and I didn't understand why Eric chose him.
"Are you in a relationship right now?" I asked straightforward, making him flinch slightly. Kai didn't work here for long, I guess around one year or so. I didn't have much trust in him and as he showed me, he obviously couldn't solely concentrate on his job.
"You know?" He smiled lightly, which I didn't return.
"You mean that you are fucking my best friend? Yeah, I do." I retorted monotonously.
His cheeks instantly reddened and he shamefully looked down to the floor, before staring back at me with an arrogant stare.
"It's none of your business." He hissed.
"Of course, it isn't and I also don't want to know any details about your relationship." I exclaimed disgusted. "I just want to know if you feel the same for him as he apparently does for you?"
"I guess," he replied with an obvious uncertainty that bothered me.
"You guess?!" I scoffed.
"I know it!" He immediately corrected himself.
"Good," I said with a satisfied grin.
He sent me a fake smile and wanted to turn back from me, but I wasn't finished yet.
"Do you want a warning to not mess with Eric's feelings in any kind of way or will you understand that on your own?!" I threatened him and all the colors drained from his face.
"I don't need your warning, thanks!" He replied arrogantly. I pressed my lips together to keep myself from making something stupid, that I'd regret afterward. I turned around and walked away without another word.
"Am I interrupting something?" Eric questioned skeptically as he suddenly approached us. I didn't even see him coming. He was still angry at me for my outburst earlier. It was quite obvious.
I knew that what he said was kinda right, but I wasn't ready to admit that yet and give him this satisfaction.
"Just wanted to tell my guard that he doesn't have to work tonight." I retorted, continuing to walk away.
