Anthony Lawrence

My heart rate sped up as I heard heavy footsteps approaching. I was still in the medical area although it was already late and everyone was gone. I sat next to Sam's bed trying to calm myself down a little bit by looking at his peaceful facial expression, but it didn't really work.

I let my temper get the best of me. This never happened before. I was always the silent one, who didn't like being in the spotlight and never argued with anyone. Let alone hurt anyone.

My eyes immediately focused on the door as it opened slowly to reveal my biggest nightmare. I still didn't know his name, which I didn't want to know anyway. Just like the other guy, I accidentally punched in the face before, he was wearing an elegant suit, but in dark blue. Everything on him was styled to perfection. From his hair to his shoes.

What made me flinch was his sadistic smirk, that he couldn't take off from the moment he stepped into the room. I knew that panicking was the wrong way to respond to his presence. So, I tried my best to stay calm.

"Where do I start?" He said after a moment of silence, where he just stared down on me with his grey bluish eyes. "I gave you one week to heal my son and I'm not even seeing a slight progress in his wellbeing. I mean he still lays there without even moving his eyelids-"

"That's because one week isn't enough!" I exclaimed desperately, not realizing that I interrupted him, which he obviously did. Because he was now looking at me with an angry expression.

"I don't want to hear any excuses from you. I gave you an order and you didn't fulfill it. It's your fault," He stated harshly. "And you are in no position to interrupt me when I talk. In fact you aren't allowed to talk at all without my permission."

I sighed angrily, but decided to do what he wanted to avoid putting myself in more trouble.

"If you don't mind I would like to proceed this conversation in my office and not in the presence of my son, that you failed to heal," he told me in a serious tone. Before he turned to the door, he quickly glanced to Sam and just for a few seconds his serious face turned to a pained and somber one.

This man apparently did have feelings.

I followed him hesitantly through the hallways. Here and there some people passed by and nodded to the man in front of me, who didn't show any reaction. I, on the other hand, was busy to analyze my environment as precisely as I could. Searching for a way out of here.

"If you're searching for a way to flee I have to disappoint you. My mansion is guarded by several men positioned at several corners. They'll either bring you back to me or shoot you down, whichever you prefer," he told me casually as he came to a halt in front of a door and opened it up with his keys.

He let me in first and I could feel his intense stare on my backside as I stepped into the room. My cheeks reddened immediately and I felt a rush of disgust going through my body.

I heard the door closing and then he sat down on his office chair. His office was really large with a big panorama window, a TV, a couch, shelves and in the middle his desk with a comfortable looking chair, he was currently sitting on.

I just stood there in my medical uniform that was given to me and waited for him to say something.

"Well," he started talking and sat up straight. "Aside from failing to heal my son, you also broke one of my men's noses by punching him in the face."

I swallowed hard. I didn't know why I thought that maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't find out about it. It was ridiculous. I have been so lucky lately with everything that happened. So, what did I expect.
