"Pleeease don't go, Vi! Please please pleeease?"
I tried to push her away from me as she was squeezing me tightly with her arms around my waist. I was on my way to work and Liam had gone out on a sightseeing trip, apparently. He probably did it because Jenna was in town, and he couldn't deal with her. Very understandable.
"Jenna, I have to go to work. That's just life" I said and sighed.
"But your beloved cousin is in town, that's life too, right?" She said and grinned up at me with sad eyes.
I finally managed to push her away from me and get outside of my flat before she could get a hold on me again.
"Jenna, you'll be just fine. I'll get off at 4, it's just a few hours."
She ran over to the door with her hands hanging loose. "But, what should I do? I'm all alone here now."
I thought for a while and bit my lip. "Well, you could always accompany Zayn who's living just across my flat?"
I'm so gonna have to pay for this.
Her eyes widened and she squealed like a pig. "There's a boy across from your flat? O. M. G. Is he cute?"
I laughed. "Very cute."
He was indeed very cute. His dark brown eyes matching his hair perfectly, and his smile could melt half of the city.
She squealed again for the thousandth time, and hugged me before she practically pushed me away from the door because she "had to get ready for some action". I shook my head at her and started walking out of the building.
I got to work just at time. My chair was standing right where it was when I left, and everything on my desk was perfectly put, just the way I left it. That's when I realized how much I had missed work.
"Ah, Violet!"
Professor Fabio came in as I sat down in my office chair with a big smile on his face, happy to see me again.
"It's so good to see you again! How are you? Everything good?" He asked compassionate.
I smiled back. "It's very good to be back, professor! I really missed work these days. And uhm, I guess it's okay. It's easier when you're not alone, you know?"
He nodded happily and smiled. "That's good to hear. Anyway, did you happen to see mr. Styles on your way here?"
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and shook my head. "No, sorry."
He nodded again before he turned to walk out.
It hit me that I hadn't heard from Harry since he left from Starbucks. He usually texted me something flirty or asked me how my day was in the evening, but not last night. Where could he have gone?
I tried to focuse on my work. I had to organize all the different foods into groups of all the different vitamins. C-vitamin, D-vitamin, B Complex vitamins, Vitamin K, and the list goes on. On a regular day this wouldn't be a problem for me at all. But I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
Finally it was lunch break, and I instantly dialed Harry's number on my phone.
"Hello?" Harry's graspy voice said from the other line, and I couldn't be happier just from hearing it.
"Harry, where are you?" I nearly whispered.
I didn't want Fabio to hear that I was talking to Harry, just in case he was doing something that should be kept secretly.
"Oh, Violet. Uh, I got stuck in traffic" he said with a hesitation in his voice.
"You hesitated" I said.
"No, I didn't."
"Did so."
"Did not."
"Yeah, you did. And why would you even be stuck in traffic for three hours? It's wednesday, the traffic isn't that cray-cray."
"Look, Violet, I have to go now. I'll see you tomorrow, alright?"
"But-"
Just like that he hung up, leaving me curious and mad at him for lying. He was definitely hiding something. But what?
"Violet!"
I was sitting in the caffeteria when I heard someone calling my name. I tilted my head up to see Richard waving me over to sit with him and three other people. Two girls and one boy. Richard was the young, handsome guy I met the first day I worked here.
I grabbed my plate of food and brought it over to their table, sat down and smiled. "Hey, Richard."
"Violet, it's a pleasure to see you again! You looked so lonely over there, and we all know how tough the first couple of weeks can be, so I thought I'd invite you to sit with us" he said and grinned.
"That's very nice of you, thank you!" I said back.
He nodded and started to point at the people sitting across from me.
"That's Luna, Michael and Caroline. They all work with the science of the nature, same as me."
They all smiled and greeted me. I said hi back and smiled softly, happy to finally meet some new people.
"How is working with the nutrient delivery? I heard it's really dull" the girl named Luna said.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Dull? It's not dull at all. Of course, for someone it might be dull, depending on their interests, but I guess I just really enjoy working with nutrition" I said and smiled half-heartedly, thinking it was a bit odd for her to say that.
"But like, the people working there are so weird. I mean, professor Fabio once said that he only put the once with the worst capability there" she continued and pursed her lips.
Michael and Richard nodded and laughed. I started to get angry at her statement, and I could almost feel my cheeks turning red.
"That's not true! I know one that's working there, and he's got nothing but great capability!"
She furrowed her eyebrows and crossed her arms. "Oh, yeah? And who may that be?"
I hesitated on saying who it was, but if I didn't, they would think I lied and we didn't want that.
God, I sound like a second grader, what's wrong with me?
I realized it may come back and bite me, but for the moment I didn't really care.
"Harry Styles may that be! He's a thousand times better at his work than you'll ever be at yours. He could probably whoop your ass at your job too, anyday, any year, any hour!" I half-yelled, grabbed my plate and turned on my heel to walk where I sat before.
My cheeks felt warm and red, so I tried my best to hide it with my hands. I had got some attention from the few others in the caffeteria, but I didn't really bother. All I wanted was to go home.
