"I can't believe you said that! Oh dear."
Harry couldn't stop laughing at his phone.
"Harry, please-"
"Oh my God, you should've seen the look on her face!"
He fell back in the couch from laughing.
"You know, I would really appreciate some sympathy here" I said and rolled my eyes.
"Darling, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at her! Her face was priceless, oh dear" he said before he bursted out in laughter again. "Bless the person who filmed this!"
"It's not funny! I'm such an idiot, I shouldn't've said those things to her" I said and hid my face with my hands.
"Are you kidding? It was phenomenal!" Harry said and furrowed his eyebrows at me for being embarassed over this.
"No, it wasn't. I was being childish and rude to her, Harry. That's not me! I screwed up."
I shook my head. Harry pushed himself off of the couch and went over to sit across from me at the kitchen island.
"Violet, trust me, you didn't screw up. I bet the entire cafeteria had a marvelous time watching you kick her sorry arse. Do you have any idea how many at work who would want to do that, but never dared? Well, you did. You stood up for yourself, Violet, and that's something you should never be sorry for" he said and looked into my eyes, searching for understanding.
I sighed and twiddled with my thumbs. "I guess you're right."
"I always am, love" he said and smiled softly.
Suddenly it crossed my mind that he hadn't told me where he was earlier.
"Where were you today? Fabio was looking for you, you know" I asked.
His smile faded. "I got stuck in traffic, I told you that." His tone was serious.
"Yeah, that's what you told me. Now, tell me the truth" I said determined and demanding.
His eyebrows raised at my sudden tone, but he didn't get mad, he just sighed. "Look, Violet, can't we talk about this another time? I'm not really in the mood for it."
I sighed and nodded, realizing that if I pushed him too far he'd only get angry and we'd end up fighting.
He hopped off his chair. "Great! Now let's go get some frozen yoghurt at Willie's!"
I furrowed my eyebrows at his sudden desition. "What?"
He rolled his eyes. "Come on, you need something to cheer you up! Besides, I know you love Willie's just as much as I do."
I groaned, knowing I couldn't say no to Willie's. Willie's was the restaurant Harry showed me that he loved so much. Their frozen yoghurt was extraordinary, and Harry knew he could use that against me.
"Fine" I finally gave in, and stood up to grab my purse.
He jumped up and down like a little boy, and for a moment it felt like he was my son and I was his dear mother who finally said yes to got get frozen yoghurt.
~
"You haven't really told me a lot about you, you know."
Harry looked at me and scooped some ice cream onto his spoon before he put it in his mouth.
"Well, the last time I only got to the part where I told you where I came from" I said, hinting to him interrupting me, pretending that I was annoyed by it.
He rolled his eyes and stifled a laugh. "Then tell me about your family."
I smiled at the thought of them. "Well, I have two brothers, a younger and an older. Caspar and Joseph. They're both idiots really. Two complete morons, but I love them nevertheless."
He smiled and rested his head on the palm of his hand. "What about your parents?"
I took a deep inhale and exhale. "Uhm, my mother's name is Laura. She's the loveliest person you could imagine. Her love and caring always lifted me up, in ways that no one else could. At my darkest, she was the one who helped me get back on my feet and really feel again. Feel like I lived, like I had a purpose to my life, not that I just existed. I don't know how she beared with me, but somehow she did, and that was all I needed.
"It's funny, because all we do in our teenage years is try to push them away, to grow up as fast as we can to get away from them. But we'll always have that little fraction inside of us that cries for help. Help from our parents to get through things, and as soon as we really grow up we realize that. When it's too late to go back, we start to think about the things we shouldn't've done or said, but in reality those things doesn't matter. They don't, and as soon as we realize that, we'll might be able to get through the pain that comes afterwards. After them."
I didn't really know where I was going with it, or where it came from. Suddenly it just all came out of nowhere. I guess I just had it in the back of my mind for a while.
Harry gazed my eyes deeply. I looked at him as well, and for a moment it didn't feel awkward just looking at him like that. It felt good somehow. Refreshing. His expression was serious, yet pleased with sitting across me, just peeking carefully at the tip of my soul. Yet, he didn't know it all.
His mouth opened to speak, but was interrupted by the waitress, who asked us if we wanted some more frozen yoghurt. We both said yes with eager and laughed at eachother. We loved frozen yoghurt way too much.
We ate so much frozen yoghurt that we both got a stomach ache. Harry could barely drive because he was hurting so much, but we both just laughed and shook our heads.
"I'm never eating frozen yoghurt again!" Harry said and laughed.
"Me neither" I answered and bursted out in laughter.
We probably would.

A/N:
Hey guys!
So, weird and cheesy chapter, I know. But, two updates in one day isn't bad, huh??
I wasn't trying to be deep or philosophical or anything at Violet's long part, because I know I'm not haha. I just felt like she had a lot of thoughts in her mind that she didn't get to say very often and this was her golden chance to just plop it all out there, haha!
Anyway, please vote and comment on this story, because I really need it! Don't mean to nag or anything or force you into voting if you don't like it, but if you liked it, it would mean so much to me if you voted and/or commented on the chapters! Don't be an invisible reader, please! I love comments!
Don't forget to share with your friends!
Au revoir 🍀
