Brrr brrr. I could feel my phone vibrate from my pocket in my long coat, and picked it up. An unfamiliar number showed on the iPhone screen, as a cold breeze blew my hair to the side.
"Violet speaking", I said to whoever was in the other line, waiting for an answer.
"Yes, this is professor Fabio from Global Counseling. We got your résumé, and we thought it was excellent." I heard from the other line.
I stopped walking down the road and exhaled, watching the carbon dioxide from my mouth turning into a big, white cloud.
"Oh, that's great! I'm so glad you actually took your time to read it" I said in shock.
"Well, it wasn't me who read it, but I'm looking forward to meeting you, Violet! You'll start on monday at 8:30, and there you'll meet your co-workers. Don't be late!" He said in a light tone.
"I won't. Goodbye, professor!" I hung up. Looking around to check if anyone was watching, I did a little dance move in the middle of the street, before I walked steady like a normal, functioning human being.
When I arrived the apartment, I was met by piles of boxes. I sighed, as I hung up my coat and took my shoes off, getting ready to use hours unpacking stuff.
I had just moved here. To Greendale. It was a small place, but this was where I wanted to be.
It was the year 2036, and the world had started to slightly fall apart. There was some serious storms and tornadoes everywhere, people were getting more and more negative and went on each others nerves, and the list goes on.
That was what Global Counseling was for. They helped the community with almost everything.
On the news they were always showing how wonderful other societies in different countries had it after they had been there. It was amazing to watch, and I still couldn't believe the fact that I was going to start working there, in the matter of two days.
At the thought of it, I started to get nervous. What would I wear? Would my colleges be nice, or would they hate me? Hopefully I'd get some friends there.
Suddenly I heard a knock on my door. I stared at the door, confused. Who could be knocking at my door? I hadn't gotten to know anyone yet.
I was met by a tall boy with black hair, golden brown eyes and a big smile plastered on his face. Probably in his 20's.
"Hello!" he said, his smile getting even bigger.
"Uhm, hi" I answered back, not really knowing what to say, or what he was doing here.
"Yeah, uhm.. I noticed there was someone new here, so I thought I would welcome you and get to know you better" he said, so politely.
I smiled. "That's very sweet of you, thank you! Oh, and I'm Violet. Violet McKenzie" I greeted him and shook his hand.
"Hello, Violet McKenzie. I'm Zayn Malik." I gave him a small grin, feeling very pleased with my decisition of moving here.
