There's something deep about people who are hesitant of saying the word "I love you."

They're always thinking too much- not sure whether to tell you that word that you deserve to hear, or save you from the heartbreak that you don't deserve to feel.

They knew they're going to hurt you. They always do. That is why they try their best to not let you in the barriers they've made by and for themselves, no matter how many times you keep on calling out or knocking.

In that way, they think that no one's gonna end up breaking.

Not the wall.

Not the heart.

Especially not the person.

And most of the times, you just let that go.

That's where everything starts to mess up.

There they are, just exactly behind that wall where you once stood up. They'd realize that losing you forever without even letting you know what they truly feel would be too much of a regret.

Just as you are walking away, they would hurry to open the gate, chase you, and say things that they've been bottling up ever since. They'd tell you everything; every significant and reassuring thing- except those three words.

But that would be just fine. For them and for you, what's important is that you're walking with them now even though they hadn't let you in yet.

They'd overwhelm you by coming out by themselves and trying to meet you halfway. You'd wait for them every day, in a special place, something that's memorable enough to be considered as a safe haven.

It would be tiresome to wait and expect, but they'll surely come.

They might not be able to open the doors for you yet but they'd willingly come out of their comfort zone just to see and make you smile.

For them, love is something that takes time.

They always ponder over it; when you are or aren't looking, when you are telling about something that made or ruined your day, when you are laughing or weeping, or when you're just both sitting in silence and savoring the comfort of each other's presence.

It's not because you aren't good enough for them to be sure about you, but because they knew people are worthy enough of being loved with no doubts.

Because they are, too, patiently waiting until the time they could tell you those three, significantly difficult to say words.

Perhaps it's both a fortunate and unfortunate experience to have-

to love and be loved by someone who's complicated.
