The roaring wind outside slammed the raindrops against my window as you turned your head to look out at the deep dark grey sky.
"At this pace it'll start thundering soon," you quietly commented as your fingertips immediately began playing with the edges of the notebook in yoru lap, "don't you think?"
Your head whipped around to look at your best friend, caption of the soccer team, none other than Shim Jaeyun, or Jake as you preferably called him. He had his eyes glued to page 394 in his physics book before they slowly moved and he glanced up to your before throwing the window beside you a quick glance.
"It'll be fine," Jake quickly assured as his deep chocolate brown eyes, that never ceased to make you weak, looked back at you.
By now it shouldn't be a secret to anyone, but Jake, that you did in fact have a massive crush on him. Just about how every other girl in school had. Like.... who wouldn't? Jake was the calmest and most gentle person in existence. He would always make sure everyone was alright, even the people he didn't speak to. He had a habit of approaching people in the hallway at school whenever they looked down, offering to speak with them if they needed. That had been the exact way you had gotten your first meeting with Jake, just long before your High School time.
It had been a bright summer day back in kindergarten when your friends had abandoned you by yourself on the playground near your house. So as sad as you were while you quietly sat on the swing in the playground a small shock went through your body when small hands had begun pushing you from behind and soon you had seen a happy boy sit on the swing beside you before he had begun mindlessly rambling, from that day on you had fallen completely for Jake. In fact you could say you had face planted the asphalt when you had fallen for him. You had fallen HARD.
"Hey, you there?" with a snap of his fingers in front of your spaced out eyes Jake directed your attention back to that dashing smile only he had on his face, "you spaced out."
"Sorry... History must be too boring for me," you muttered and scratched the side of your nose as you looked back down at your notes.
"That's... that's your Biology notes," Jake pointed out as he softly tapped the corner of your notebook.
"Oh... it is..." you quietly muttered as a loud bang echoed right out beside your window, making you immediately jump closer to Jake, who easily caught you, after all he should be used to your jittery behavior at the slightest louder sound, "I told you it would thunder," you immediately defended to Jake who just sheepishly smiled at you.
"Well, would you look at that? You're not as heavy as you always make it out to be," Jake joked as he lifted you slightly only bringing your faces closer to one another.
It went silent as you just stared at Jake and his handsome features that all blended together just perfectly and gave him a perfectly symmetrical face. Oh how jealous any other girl would be of having him as your bestfriend, but how jealous you were of whoever would be the one to kiss him in the future.
For a moment it seemed like Jake glanced down at your lips before he looked back up at your eyes and a small fond smile spread on his face instead of the sheepish and goofy one he usually showed in front of you. Immediately you reminded yourself he wasn't glancing at your lips it was just your imagination playing with you.
But your imagination was quickly thrown miles away when you felt the bangs of Jake's fluffy hair come in contact with your forehead, this only meant one of you were leaning closer and as your attention snapped back on Jake you were sure it was him that had leaned forward. His eyes wasn't even looking at yours anymore, they were too distracted with looking at your lips.
Your breath hitched in your throat as you could only watch as Jake slowly leaned closer to you. You were sure your heart had stopped beating the moment his lips had softly touched yours in a ghostly touch and he had abruptly pulled away. It wasn't even a kiss it was the faint shadow of a kiss.
Tearing your eyes away from Jake's lips you were immediately met with his worried eyes, only making so many questions run through your head.
"I'm so sorry," Jake immediately whispered, "I've been trying to hold it in for so long, but I couldn't control it. I would never kiss you without you telling me it's okay."
"It's okay," you softly assured and he immediately let out a deep breath.
"I was scared I had just ruined our friendship," he admitted with a deep breath as you let out a small laugh and he snapped his eyes back up to yours again, "I'm not catching on to something here, am I not?"
"Try and say what you said just before again," you softly replied and a small frown grew on his face.
"I would never kiss you without you telling me it's okay," he quietly murmured to himself before looking up at you with so much sincerity in his eyes, you actually doubted if he had ever looked at someone like this before, "can I kiss you?" his voice came out all soft and careful as he looked at you with more adoration than anyone ever had.
"Of course you can," you quietly whispered back as he raised a hand and let his thumb softly caress your cheek before he carefully leaned closer to you again.
"Are you sure?" he questioned lowly against your lips, simply grazing your lips with his.
Instead of answered you slowly leaned in and softly placed your lips on his gentle one as he snaked one hand over to apply a small pressure on your nape as the other wrapped around your waist. Your hands slowly sneaking up to cup his face in your hands.
How does one go from having a crush on their childhood best friend, to kissing him years later while he uses the most gentle touch, yet so loving, that anyone ever has used on you?
