The water flow in the small stream continued to provide a cold gentle blanket brushing over his feet, which were planted on the rocky bottom of the water stream. A piece of straw between his fingers as he mindlessly picked it into small bits and pieces. However, his eyes were concentrated on something completely else.

Further out in the water stream, where it was just a few centimetres deeper she stood. The legs of her pants rolled up to just under her knees. Hands brushing int the gentle current, breaking the surface of the water whenever a small glint had caught her eye.

She had been going like that for the past half an hour by now, looking for the right rock. She hadn't looked at him once since she stepped out into the water, but every once in a while she would make a comment - as if she was unconsciously assuring him that she knew he was there with here. That she was aware he was the one watching her.

The sight of her seemed so nostalgic as she stood there in the water. It had been going like that for years, though he was usually the one wandering about in the water. She would sit on the shore and braid up a flower crown from the flowers they had collected together on their walk to the small water stream. Not today, he was now the one sitting on the shore with a piece of stray, watching as she stood there - just in line of the sun's rays every once in a while. When it hit her hair at just the right angle he swore it gave her an angelic glow, and it wasn't just his love struck mind talking.

The breeze had picked up since they had arrived at the stream and he couldn't help but let out a small chuckle - watching her fight with her hair to get it to stay out of her face. Had she just brought a hair tie it wouldn't have been a problem. She never brought one. That's why he always wore one on his wrist.

He couldn't stop himself from smiling when he saw the wide grin spread on her face. Eyes lighting up with excitement. Abruptly her hand broke down through the surface of the water, almost as if she had decided to try and catch a fish. But what she retrieved was a simple dark stone, specks covering it every once in a while.

Quickly she rushed back to the shore, making sure to slow down her steps once she reached him. Grinning widely as she sat down beside him on the shore, turning and holding up the stone beside his head.

"Perfect match," she grinned widely.

"Match for what?" he hummed, continuing to stare at her face as she turned the stone in her hand and inspected it even further.

"Your eye colour," she excused with a small smile, glancing over at him, "now I'll be able to remember the most important part about you, even if you're gone," she declared loudly and looked back over and straight into his eyes, "now... are you done staring at me?"

"I'll never be done."

Her pursed lips spread further towards her ears and into a smile. Assuring him that she truly didn't mind, regardless of how much she'd tease him. How much her cheeks would redden. Or how much his heart would start beating faster.

"You must be tired some day," she challenged and he shook his head, letting the rest of his straw drop into the water and float away. Chin resting into his palm.

"Not when it is you."
