"And you're sure this is fine?" you checked as Heeseung just nodded at you, the moment his bare feet came in contact with the warm sand of the beach, "I am serious Hee, if this is not alright you have to tell me right now."
"As long as I don't go into the water, it'll be fine," he softly assured, making a small smile spread on your lips, "I swear, don't worry about it."
Finding the perfect spot on the beach Heeseung carefully laid down the towel you two had brought to sit on, meanwhile he just got out his snacks immediately. You glanced back at him as he sat himself down in a comfortable manner, ready to watch you have your fun in the salty sea water.
"What?" he questioned innocently as he realized you were just starring at him, not even moving near the water.
"I feel bad for forcing you to be here," you admitted quietly as he only showed his bright pearly whites in a wide grin.
"No, come on! I love seeing you have fun!" he assured happily and you glanced up at him with a small smile, "now come on, I can see you're barely holding yourself back."
Within a heartbeat you had gotten rid of your outer layer and sprinted right towards the water, jumping in and letting the salt water engulf you in a semi-cold hug.
Meanwhile Heeseung could only sit and wonder how incredibly ironic it was. He was head over heels for someone who loved the sea and him equally as much. They loved something he was so far from even touching.
But the way they splashed around in the blue tides made the water look so innocent and harmless. Yet he knew if he was to just as much as join you by letting his feet into the water it could be the death of him. It had always been like that ever since they banished him.
You had gotten the story many times, too many to count yet you still asked for it once in a while whenever Heeseung seemed alright with telling you the story properly. It had been centuries since a male siren had been seen, so how in the world was he gonna be accepted in the sea ever again?
"Heeseung-ie!" by the sound of your voice Heeseung immediately snapped his head up and looked at you with his big doe eyes, "will you sing for me?"
You loved hearing him sing, something he was quite surprised by seeing as there should be a curse to his voice. Still he always found himself unable to reject your request whenever you asked such of him.
"Come out of the water first," Heeseung yelled back, quite anxious as to what would happen if he was to sing while you were still in the water.
Not giving it a second thought you set into a run and ran up to Heeseung, who immediately threw one of his t-shirts at you, before you got the chance to pull your own clothes on.
With excitement you sat down beside him and threw one of your legs across his lap, as a way to show affection, a method he always had found endearing. It wasn't like you were straddling him or anything, you were just sitting on the towel with a leg stretched over him, almost as if you were keeping him secure.
A small giggle left your mouth as you brushed your hair out of your face and looked at him with excitement.
"What song do you wanna hear?" Heeseung sweetly asked, wanting to lean closer and boop his nose against yours while you excitedly waited.
"That lullaby one," you eagerly requested.
"Song of the Sea?" he raised both his eyebrows, pretending to be surprised by the common song request, "are you serious?"
"Please Hee, please!" you immediately begged and he let out a small laugh before leaning back on his hands, looking over at you with a small huff.
He let out a small laugh before quietly nodding and making a wide grin spread on your face. Taking in a deep breath Heeseung closed his eyes and you did the same. Listening to his soft voice singing.
Oh won't you come with me
Where the ocean meets the sky
And as the clouds roll by
We'll sing the song of the seaHeeseung let his eyes open as he sang, looking out over the horizon where sky met the sea. All the while you kept your eyes closed, letting Heeseung's voice mix with the sort touches of the wind.
When Heeseung's voice subsided and turned into a small hum you fluttered your eyes open and watched as he longingly looked towards the sea.
"Do you ever miss it?" you quietly questioned, making him snap his head over to look at you, "the sea. Do you miss it?"
"Everyday," Heeseung nodded before looking at you with a small smile, "but it's alright. You know why?"
"Maybe..." you trailed off, a small smile growing on your face.
"Because it just so happens the person of my dreams lives on land and is the most wonderful human being," he cheesily replied and you let out a small laugh, looking out towards the sea.
"Then I guess you're the most wonderful Siren," I remarked and he only chuckled and leaned back on his elbows, quietly shaking his head before looking to you.
"By far the nicest, and least dangerous," he corrected and you just quietly nodded in agreement.
After a long nice silence you could hear humming come from Heeseung once again. He had continued humming on the song, not even giving it a second thought. Somehow it reminded him of his mom and how she always would sing it to him when he was younger, before he got banished from the sea.
