The Bridge: Part Two

Jim and his team rushed forward with prowess.

In three minutes, Bular's team had minimized to just him. Jim's team had increased. Bular was now all on his own.

"You!" Bular roared, looking at Jim. "You wield the sword of Arthur! How is that possible?"

"I pulled it from the stone," Jim roared back.

"It's over, Bular, give up!" Claire yelled, eyes changing to purple.

"Never! My father will be free! Nomura, get the Trollhunter!" Bular ordered. Nomura was being helped up by Douxie, and she looked over at him and glared.

"I will never help you. Gunmar will never be free!" Nomura shouted. Bular reared back in shock from Nomura's sudden defiance.

"How dare you! You impure!" Bular boomed. Bular rushed forward towards Nomura.

"Protego bullitus!" Douxie exclaimed, surrounding them in a blue bubble. Bular's fist made contact with the bubble, and it cracked slightly. "I've used up a lot of my magic," Douxie said, turning to Nomura. "I'm not sure how much longer I can hold this thing!"

"You won't have to for much longer," Nomura reassured, seeing the three teens run-up to Bular. Jim released a battle cry as his sword met one of Bular's. Bular pushed down his sword onto Jim's with one hand while his other continued to damage Douxie's shield.

Claire kept a safe distance from Bular and created a portal between Douxie and Nomura. Nomura quickly jumped into the portal and appeared next to Claire. Douxie was about to turn to jump into the portal when Bular threw his other sword towards Claire.

"Look out!" Nomura yelled, pushing Claire to the ground. The portal next to Douxie disappeared.

"Thank you," Claire gasped, standing up again and looking back at Bular's large sword. "I need to save Douxie!"

She tried to open a portal, but it barely reached the size of an olive.

"Fudgenuckle! I'm spent!" Claire cried. "I can't get Douxie out of there!"

"Tobes! It's all you!" Jim shouted, looking back at his best friend. Toby nodded determinedly and rushed forwards towards Bular. Bular saw Toby and kicked Jim in the stomach, knocking him away.

Toby continued to rush forward and meet Bular head-on. Bular sideswiped, but Toby ducked under it and plunged Daylight into Bular's chest.

Bular gaped like a fish before roaring weakly.

"Just in case!" Jim grunted, moving up beside Toby, and settling Excalibur right beside Daylight. Bular's stab wounds began glowing a brilliant gold before the light consumed the rest of Bular's body.

Then, Bular's body disbanded into thousands of glowing particles, no noise or disturbance to be seen or heard. Both of their swords dropped to the ground.

"What was that?" Toby breathed out.

"I think it might have had something to do with the swords," Jim said, looking down at Daylight and Excalibur.

"Oh my gosh! Double Daylight! The ultimate finishing move! We did it! We defeated Bular!" Toby yelled, laughing and pulling Jim into a tight hug. Jim laughed as well and reciprocated the hug.

"We did!"

Claire joined the hug alongside Douxie, Blinky, and Aaarrrgghh. Nomura stood off to the side, claiming her injured arm meant she couldn't be hugged. Jim's eyes fell on Claire's hair when they finally let go, and guilt suddenly welled up in Jim.
