////FINALLY getting into the actual story!////
FRIDAY 2/7
I had been dreading this day since the Wednesday Harleigh brought it up.
Usually, I have time to prepare for these sort of things, like a week minimum, but no, I had a day and a half.
To get ready for a party.
I can't really remember the last party I went to, but it definitely hadn't been any time recently.
I know what you're thinking:
What kind of senior hasn't gone to a party?
Well, despite the whole seeing people I don't normally associate with, parties have always been so boring to me.
Drinking. Smoking. Hooking up.
That's not me.
I hate the way alcohol burns my throat when I try to swallow it and I can barely breathe around clouds of smoke.
And there's only one girl I'd want to hook up with anyway, and she'd never go for that.
So no, I'm not exited for the party itself; hanging out with Harleigh though, that could make my night better.
I'd never admit it but watching horror movies with Lennox and Ramona seemed like a lot more fun.
My school has a rotating schedule, so today first period I had English.
I got to class earlier like I usually did and put my earphones in.
Someone nudged my shoulder.
"Wes! Hey."
"Hey Har!" I struggled to pull my earphones out of my ears.
"I was just wondering if you're still on for tonight?"
"Yeah, yeah of course!"
"Okay, great. Do you know where I live? And, uh, you can come over a little earlier if you want, like at seven."
"Yeah, and alright!"
Awkward silence. She just stood there and smiled.
"Okay great! See you then."
I couldn't really pay attention that much in English that morning.
Mrs. Novak was talking about The Scarlet Letter, which I had already read and was fully disappointed by in fifth grade.
The rest of the day was a blur.
I went to my classes and sat there wondering what this party would be like, or what me and Harleigh would do when I showed up.
Maybe she needed more help or something. That was probably the reason she wanted me to come over earlier. Definitely why.
Finally once school was over I rushed to my car where I was surprised by Harleigh and Ramona.
I was about to be bombarded with questions. Great.
I unlocked the doors and they got in the backseat, whispering to themselves.
I quickly turned on the radio so I could maybe avoid the near interview with Lennox and Ramona that loomed over my head.
Lennox poked her head in the middle of my seat and the passenger seat.
"So what are you wearing to the party?" Lennox spoke softly before breaking into a fit of laughter.
"Len, we can just go to it ourselves and find out!" They laughed together and I glared at Lennox, my eyes narrowed in a you're-so-annoying kind of way.
