The glass doors slid into the walls. Opening up the whole side of the house to a huge green backyard. Looking over a cliff at the Seattle ocean view. Black chairs to lie on, surrounded the glass pool.

We all took a seat under the pergola canopy, at the glass table. Chantel wanted me to take a seat next to Ju as Harrison sat next to her. The butlers brought our lunch as it was burgers, my favourite.

I dug into my burger; the sauces dripped down my fingers onto my plate. Eating all of my burgers, the last bit in my hand. I moved it all around my plate, getting all the sauce off it.

Gulping the last bite in my mouth, I picked up a napkin and cleaned my mouth. Looking up, I locked eyes with the wide eyes of Harrison, Ju, and Chantel. Harrison was trying so hard not to laugh as Ju and Chantel were shocked. I looked at their hands and released they were cutting their burgers and eating them with a fork.

Well done, Aideen. You just fucked up, impressing your mother-in-law.

"I am sorry," I spoke. Harrison picked up his napkin, laughing into it. Chantel hit him on the shoulder, stopping his laughter. "What?!" he spoke, coughing as he tried not to laugh any louder.

"Aideen, you're a lady," Ju said, as she carried on cutting her burger royally. "Why don't you teach her manners? She is your wife," Ju asked, looking toward Harrison.

"She can do as she, pleases. She is her person," Harrison spoke.

"Harrison, even if she is her person. She is your wife, a woman. You need to treat her with respect, as should she. You should have helped her with her manners," Chantel spoke.

To an extent, I felt hurt. I wanted to show my true self, yet now I have realized I have to act like my 12-year-old self. A child that was forced to act prim and proper to fit into this formal murderous industry. Eating with books on your head and throwing knives at moving targets.

"Mother. I am an adult. I don't need to be babied, as well as Aideen," Harrison snapped back at his mother. Never had my mother myself, but I know, you should never snap back at your mother.

"Are you scared to show your wife how your mother still babies you? You will always be a mother-son, dear. Don't forget that!" Chantel placed her knife and fork down. Excusing herself as she went back inside the house; to return with a book in her hands.

She sat down. Handing me the book and asked to me open it. My eyes shifted to Harrison, that mouthed to me "Don't you dare" with a stern look. I grinned. I dared.
