It had been a few days since escaping to Christiana's residence. I was really hungover from the New Year's Eve festivities a few nights prior. I felt depressed, so I drank excessively. I've avoided Harrison's calls by spending my time at Christiana's place. Harrison would leave voicemails for me if I did not answer.
"Hey, this is Aideen, leave a message after the beep and I will get back to you as soon as I can."
*BEEP*
"Hey, Aideen it's Harrison...Again. I would like to talk to you, please. When you have a chance, please call me back...Uhm...I love you..."
I would often lie in bed and listen to his voice notes. Weeping because I have wounded him once more while also wounding myself. I've let it be known that I'm in love with him, and every day that I don't have him feels like a bacterium that eats flesh. a sickness that is destroying me. a deadly infection that is making breathing intolerable.
I heard the vehicle arrive in the driveway. I recognised it to be Jack as he has provided some supplies. Like training for the new female recruits and extra ammunition for Christiana's sniper missions. Since Jack has access to the weaponry, he may provide her with ammunition when needed.
I got out of bed and meet Jack in the armoury of Christiana's home. Jack and I were going through some documents of past security heads. Christiana made us coffee and went into the kitchen to grab some cookies. Jack got up from his chair as Christiana departed.
"Aideen, the real reason why I am here. Is to check up on you?" I knew that supplies, and bringing the armoury was an excuse. "So, after 10 days of trying to find him. He called me. When I went over, Harrison had a shit show last night and reck his whole house in a rage."
Shit. Harrison recked his house, why? Was it because of me? Was it something else?
"I have known Harrison since we were toddlers and we have always been open and honest with each other. I have never seen Harrison so broken and in love with a woman before."
I felt a little bit sad for Jack, yet I was not mentally prepared to go back to Harrison.
Christiana came in with cookies and Jacks cup of coffee. "I will not be staying any longer. I am needed back at the safe house to help the other members with their missions, but thank you Christiana for the coffee and cookies" Christiana nodded as Jack left the room.
I picked up the coffee and took a sip. "Hazelnut?" Christiana smiled and nodded "You like?" I nodded yes. It was exactly how Harrison made it. Christiana helped me look through the files, of contractors and security companies.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"Great!" I lied.
"Aideen, I heard everything Jack said to you. I think he is right. You two are hard on each other and extremely protective over what is yours. But you two overreacted and neither of you have been in a relationship. I do think you two are made for each other."
I was shocked. "I don't want my story to be told as an enemy to lovers. That is so cliché – What is so cliché about your story, Aideen?" Christiana asked, crossing her arms and giving me a stern look.
Uhm...I don't know?
My phone vibrated, and the first thought that came to me was Harrison phoning me again. I wanted to take it up this time and respond to him. But it was Jack.

I tilted my phone to Christiana as she read the message from Jack. "I agree with him. You guys should go on an adventure together. I know he wants to show you something and discuss something with you" Show me what?
"I don't know. It will be awkward. It's been so long, I feel nervous to face him" I crossed my arms and put my head on my arms, on the table. "Aideen, you're the Red Dragon, for Fuck Sake. The most wanting woman in this Industry. With 10 trillion US dollars as a reward for your head. You fear no one. So why let one man get to you?"
"That man has my heart. That man is the love of my life. My heart fears him" I admitted.
I took a big breath and felt confident enough to apologise to him for arguing and overreacting to the situation. We pledged to communicate, but we didn't. We needed time on our own.
With every relationship and you being in each other's faces 24/7. You need time apart to yourself, but not like this, I needed him, I wanted to apologize and win him back.
"Okay, I will call him" Christiana run around the table and picked me up from my seat, jumping up and down with me in her arms "YAAAYYYYY!!!" She cried out, screeching in my ears. I chuckled as she put me down.
"My ship is finally siling" She put her hands together, moving them apart in a rainbow shape with a full palm, saying. "Haydieen"
"Haydieen?" I chuckled. "YES! It's you and Harrison's couple name"
"Is that what Jack and you came up with?" I asked. "No, Jack said he didn't want to be part of my couple fantasy things" She giggled. I smiled back at her as I picked up my phone heading out of the room. "I like it, but maybe keep brainstorming on ideas"
I locked the door behind me and looked through my phone, locating Harrison's contact information and tapping the green button to call him. My pulse was racing as I waited for the phone to connect.
The hairs on my body sprang up, giving me uneasy goosebumps as I imagined hearing his voice again. It rang once before he answered quickly.
"Hey," I said flustered and anxious. "Hey, how are you?" He asked. Hearing his voice slowed down my heart. I felt warm chills down my spine. I am glad he is alright.
"I am well, thank you. How have you been?"
"Well, just working. How can I help you?" He sounds so formal, it made me smile. "Uhm...I was wondering as to when you're leaving to go to Texas?" My heart dropped.
"Later today" Harrison stated in a curious voice, as to why I am asking. "I was wondering if I might join you – Yes!"
Harrison exclaimed, interrupting me with a hint of excitement in his voice, which made me smile.
"Alright, see you soon," I said in a calm voice. "See you soon, Aideen" Hearing Harrison say my name made my heart flutter as butterflies filled my stomach. I hung up the phone with a big grin on my face.
Christiana screamed in my ear in excitement. happy to see me getting back together with him. "Oh, My GOOODD!! I am so happy for you too?"
"Were you eavesdropping Christiana" I chuckled. "No. Maybe" She gave me a guilty look, as I gave her the stink eye. "Fine. Yes. I was, only for a little bit" I raised my eyebrow at her, with a smirk. "Fine. The whole thing" Christiana and I chuckled.
