CHAPTER 14

THE RIDERS OF ROHAN

“Be believing, be happy, don't get discouraged. Things will work out.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley

They kept running with no rest nor feast in three days until Aragorn spotted something.

“Their pace has quickened, the must have caught our scent. Hurry!” he shouted down to Legolas, Raenaslee and Gimli.

“Come Gimli.” Said Legolas, he then looked back and helped the she-elf climbed on the boulders.

“Three days and nights pursuit, no food, no rest, and no sign of our query no rock can tell.” Gimli grumbled.

They continued running none stop, and Gimli managed to keep up but still holdup behind.

At one stop, Aragorn reached down and pulled something up out of the mud. It was a small Lothlorien leaf. “Not lightly do the leaves of Lorien fall.” He stated.

“They may yet be alive.” Legolas said.

“This is Pippin’s! We must endure further!” Raenaslee said as she touched the leaf.

“No less than a day ahead of us.” Aragorn said.

Although, a loud clang and bang of Gimli fell down the hill they’d just stepped off.

“Come Gimli, we are gaining on them.” Legolas called back to him.

“I’m wasted on cross country; we dwarves are natural sprinters, very dangerous of short distances.” Gimli said in his own defense.

They stood up on a high rocky outcropping, and from their vantage point they viewed the plains of Rohan.

“Rohan, home of the horse Lords, there’s something strange at work here, some evil gives speed to these creatures and sets its will against us. Legolas what do your elf eyes see?” Aragorn called.

“The Uruks turned north east; they’re taking the hobbits to Isengard.” Legolas shouted to them.

“That could only mean one thing.” The she-elf said and looked at Aragorn.

“Saruman.” Aragorn said.

They continued their long hard run, ever gaining on their enemy. “Aragorn, they’re branded with the white hand of Saruman.”

“It is as we feared.” He said, and pushed them forward.

“They run as if the very whips of their masters are behind them.” Said Legolas.

“A red sun rises; blood has been spilt this night.” Legolas said when the dawn of the following morning came for they’ve ran through the midnight hours.
