CHAPTER 29
THE DEATH OF ELFLOVE
“Closed eyes, heart not beating, but a living love.”
― Avis Corea
Even in death, she was always their most beloved. They placed Raenaslee’s body on a white silk bed in a room where they putted white and pink roses and petals as doves and butterflies flew in and accompanied her on her death bed.
The information of Raenaslee’s death spread throughout the land.
In Rivendell,
Arwen was reading Raenaslee’s poem.
When she read it, she began to cry, for last night she dreamt her dear cousin. “Be the good cousin I always know.” Ranaslee told her before she fade away.
“Oh Raenaslee, for all the things you taught me. Why do you have to go?” Arwen sobbed when her father entered her room.
“Arwen, Raenaslee… she’s…” Elrond paused, looking desperate.
“She is gone.” Arwen said, looking at her father and began to cry again. Lord Elrond sat beside her to comfort her. “Stop your crying, daughter, stop.” Although, Lord Elrond was crying, too, he loved his niece like his own brother. And even though, he knew she would die, it was still a great blow to his heart.
In Mirkwood,
Thranduil was sitting in the music room, touching the strings of the lyre when suddenly, one of the string was cut as a voice was heard, “Good bye, my Lord Thranduil.”
“Raenaslee?” he turned around but she wasn’t there. Could it be, he thought, Raenaslee is dead. He leaned on his hands, covering his face to restrain his tears. For the first time in many years since the departure of his wife, he finally shed his tears.
In Meriltaurë,
Fëaraen stared at the window, wondering how Raenaslee was.
“My lady, your mother and father are here.” One of the maidservants asked.
Then, Galadriel and Celeborn entered. Fëaraen ran and greeted them. “Daughter, it’s about Raenaslee.” Galadriel said.
“Really, how is she?” Fëaraen asked enthusiastically.
“Daughter, the Elflove is dead.” Celeborn said sadly.
Fëaraen’s eyes grew in disbelief as she went backward to her bed. She was breathing hard, gasping for air and cried. Lady Galadriel comforted her saying, “Oh Fëaraen, I’m so sorry.”
Celeborn went closer and touched his daughter gently. “But she saved us. We are very proud of her, but we can’t hold back our tears for her.” He said.
