CHAPTER 24
THE TRUTH REVIELED
“The truth is rarely pure and never simple.”
― Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being EarnestAbout a week after Gandalf left, Aragorn rushed at the hall and shouted, “The beacons of Minas Tirith! The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid.”
There was a moment of hesitation before Théoden answered, “And Rohan will answer! Muster the Rohirrim.”
Eomer bowed and left the hall, the sound of the bell signaling the Rohirrim was heard.
Eomer shouted, “Now is the hour, Riders of Rohan. Oaths you have taken. Now fulfill them all, to Lord and Land! Hah” They pushed out steeds into a gallop and rode out.
They rode into the camp where many other Rohirrim have pitched up their tents. The King was greeted from the soldiers on the side of the paths.
They stopped at the highest part of the encampment. “The horses are restless and the men are quiet.” Legolas said, with him were Gimli and Raenaslee. They saw Eomer saddling his horse.
“They grow nervous in the shadow of the mountain.” Eomer said as he looked towards the mountain, They followed his gaze and saw a huge fissure.
“That road there, where does it lead?” Gimli asked, staring at it.
“It is the road to the Dimholt, the door under the mountain.” Legolas said as he too looked at the fissure.
“Do you think we shall ever go there?” Raenaslee asked.
“I don’t know.” Legolas replied.
“None who venture there ever return. That mountain is evil.” Eomer said and walked away.
That night as they were asleep, Raenaslee heard a familiar voice calling her.
“Raenaslee, Raenaslee, it is me, the brother of your father, I’m here, come to me.” It was Elrond!
Raenaslee woke up so suddenly, and busted out of the tent, eager to see her uncle. She then founded Aragorn exited from the tent. He looked at her smiled.
As Raenaslee went inside, she found her uncle standing, and behind him was a hooded figure.
Raenaslee: Lord Elrond.
Elrond: Raenaslee, my niece (as he hugs her)
Raenaslee: What brings you here?
Elrond: I came here to tell you about your cousin and with someone. Arwen is now mortal.
As Elrond stated, Raenaslee looked away from him, remembering the things she said to her cousin a long time ago.
