CHAPTER 28

THE PASSION OF ELFLOVE

“I guess that’s just part of loving people: You have to give things up. Sometimes you even have to give them up.”

― Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“Where are they?” Pippin whispered from his seat on Shadowfax.

Aragorn looked at Pippin then moved Brego closer to the gate, Gandalf with Pippin, Legolas with Gimli, Éomer with Merry, a Gondorian standard bearer, and Raenaslee followed him closer.

“Let the Lord of the Black Land come forth! Let justice be done upon him! ” Aragorn shouted at the gate.

The gates opened partially, enough for a horse and rider to come through. The orc or creature sitting upon the horse was ghastly looking. The only part of his face visible was his mouth; everything else was covered by a metal helmet. His skin was so pale and a pinky white color and his lips were black. His teeth were narrow and pointy, and looked like they’re covered in blood. He had open slits around his mouth that open and close as he spoke, all in all, he’s rather disgusting.

“My master Sauron the Great bids thee welcome.” said this mouth of Sauron. “Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me?”

“We do not come to treat with Sauron, faithless and accursed. Tell your master this. The armies of Mordor must disband. He is to depart these lands, never to return.” Gandalf commanded.

“Ah, Old Greybeard! I have a token I was bidden to show thee.” Said the horrific being, he pulled out Frodo’s Mithril shirt and held it up for all to see.

“Frodo!” Pippin said under his breath. Gimli inhaled.

The mouth of Sauron tossed the shirt at Gandalf as it gargled in its throat,

“Frodo!” Pippin said again only slightly louder.

“Silence!” Gandalf commanded of Pippin.

“No!” Merry cried behind Éomer.

“Silence!” Gandalf commanded louder.

“The Halfling was dear to thee I see. Know that he suffered greatly at the hands of his host. Who would’ve thought one so small could endure so much pain? And he did Gandalf, he did.” the mouth said.

Aragorn came closer and cut off his head.

“I guess that concludes negotiations.” Gimli said.

“I do not believe it. I will not.” Aragorn said to them.

“Who shall ever believe it? Those words are poisons to be avoided.” Raenaslee said as loud that they could hear her.
