The king, sat down on his bed and rubbed his fingers over his face. He was tired, had been for nearly five hundred years now, but that was the price of immortality, especially forced immortality. He looked around his giant bedroom, embellished beautifully, every bit the bed chamber of a king. Well except of course for the coffin in the corner, next to which were five cherry scented candles that never went out. Not once in his five hundred years had one of those flames even so much as flickered.
He got up and walked over to where his mate lay, no signs of decay marking perfect features. He sat beside the coffin and felt empty, all his tears already shed, nothing left to lose in his life.
"Sir, we have a situation," his head of security came over the speaker in his room.
"Okay, I'm coming." He sat up tiredly, and placed a small kiss on the glass covering his mates lips. He whispered, "I will love you forever." Just like he always did before he left his room, another thing he did without fail. He sighed, not wanting to leave, to put up the horrible front of kingship. But, it came with the territory, and it was better than the fate he had originally been sentenced with. So, just like always, he would pull up his pants, put on a straight face, and fill the emptiness inside with sweet revenge.

Talon about had a heart attack when his mate appeared out of nowhere in front of him. Fortunately though, the shock lasted all of three seconds before Talon was grabbing his mate and swinging him about. He should be running in the opposite direction, but he needed a moment. Just to feel Jericho alive and safe, to know his mate was okay.
"I love you so much," Talon whispered. When he had gotten back from scouting to find out Houston had ratted his mate out to the king he had been furious. It was a big case of Houston we have a problem, and that problem's name was Talon. He had all but ripped the punk to shreds, leaving him a live with the promise that his life was entirely dependent on Jericho's safety.
He had then run as fast as he could to the court with Hally and three other trusted wolves. There he had tested out the mate telepathy thing he had heard about. Thank the Lord it had worked, or else Talon would have had to go in there blind, likely killing them both.
It didn't matter though, all that mattered was that Jericho was okay and they had to move. Heaving his mate up and positioning him bridal style, Talon gave a head tilt and started moving as fast as he could away from the court.
"You know I can walk," Jericho said. His words lacked heat though, and Talon could tell he was absolutely exhausted.
"Well, I'm carrying you more for selfish reasons anyway." Talon retorted, which was the absolute truth. He was never going to let his mate out of his sight again, it was too risky. Jericho didn't say anything more, just snuggled into Talon's arms to enjoy the ride.

"HOW IN THE HELL DID HE ESCAPE." The king was furious, beyond seeing red. He spat the words at the two guards who had let that little weasel escape.
"Sir, he almost drown us!" One yelled, his throat scratchy and rough. The other just nodded beside his partner.
"There was no water in that room." He sighed, exasperated with the two idiots.
"I KNOW! I couldn't believe it, but I swear that is what happened. I think the magic is reawakening." The guard who had his voice said. The other just stood there, eyes wide like a fish.
The king just stood there, thinking of all the ramifications that went along with magic being reawakened. He was silent for quite a while, mulling it over. Then after seemingly forever he got his voice back and said two simple words that could possibly alter his life forever.
"Show me."

Aghhhh, you guys I am so sorry, but I have been working a lot and trying to find time for this has been incredibly hard. Also, I had no idea where to go with it. I am really sorry guys, but now that school is going to be out I can probably update more. Fingers crossed. Anyways I hope you enjoy this update short as it is.
