Bree's POV
"Happy one year anniversary." I smile at Harper on our FaceTime call.
"I can't believe I've been with your brother for a whole year." She laughs in amazement.
"I can't believe he's managed to keep a girlfriend for a whole year." I snort.
"My ears are burning. Are you speaking about me?" Luke asks, popping his head in the frame.
I roll my eyes. "Only about how much you suck."
"I'm growing facial hair...look!" Luke says excitedly, angling his face to show me his mouth region.
I nod in an understanding manner. "Oh okay...are you growing it on someone else's face?" I tease.
He folds his arms, pouting childishly. "You're a horrible twin sister." He sulks.
I try to stop myself from laughing, pursing my lips together. "Okay okay, I'm sorry I take it back."
"He's sat in the corner sulking!" Harper says giggling and I join in on her laughter.
She sobers your her laughter to speak once more. "I'm actually so jealous that you're living the life of Blair Waldorf without your Serena."
"Trust me I-"
"BOO!"
My heart shoots out of my chest and my breath momentarily hitched in my throat. I look up from my phone at my surroundings to see Nina and Mei hovering over me at our lunch table.
"Don't do that!" I yell at Nina.
She chuckles slightly, holding her hands up in defence. "Sorry, I didn't think you'd get that scared."
"I gotta go." I tell Harper and Luke, looking down at my phone. "Bye Harps, bye little bro."
"I'm ol-"
I quickly end the call before Luke can rebuttal.
"Bree help us out, Nina and I are having a little dispute." Mei tells me, as they sit down at the table.
Nina rolls her eyes. "It's not a dispute. The answer is no." She snaps at Mei.
"Okayyy." Mei drones, turning to me. "Maybe we should hear from an outside perspective, shall we?"
Nina turns to Mei and they partake in their own little argument in hushed tones before Nina looks at me and groans, giving into Mei's persistence. "My older brother Austin is visiting from UCLA and Mei wants me to set her up with him."
"Alright..."
"Bree if you saw him you'd understand. He's hot as fudge." Mei squeals, clapping her hands together in excitement.
"And I've just thrown up in my mouth a little." Nina gags, reaching to sip some of her water.
Mei rolls her eyes, turning her body to face Nina. "C'mon Nina, what's the problem?"
"He's my brother, it's weird!" She admits with a shudder. "Bree, could you image if one of your friends started going out with your brother?"
Oh the irony.
I laugh awkwardly. "Yeah, about that..."
"I hope you're ready."
I trail off as Florence walks up to our table with a frown, hostility clear in her voice.
"Ready for what?" Nina asks.
Florence looks at Nina and rolls her eyes in disgust before turning to me. "The competition at deception. You better bring your A game Bree, otherwise I'll bury you."
