"Mikey," you whispered, staring at him, stunned.
"What are you doing here?" He asked dryly.
You swallowed the lump in your throat harshly. "Is there any reason why I can't be here?"
He shook his head, "No, there's none." You kept quiet, looking away from him as Kakucho shifted awkwardly. "Come with me."
Your head snapped up. "What?"
"I'm not going to repeat myself."
You nodded obediently, keeping silent and following after him. You began to grow nervous, wondering what he could possibly want to talk about. But all thoughts halted when you reached his office as you closed the door behind you.
"Is there something you need me to do?" You asked.
He went over to his desk, grabbing a paper before handing it over to you, you stared at it before looking back at him. "Kill him."
"This is the leader of our rival drug cartel," you mumbled reading the name 'Shendo Akitsuna' under his photo. "Why all of a sudden?"
"He's become annoying, it's best to deal with him now before he starts getting smart," he replied.
You crumpled the photo, shoving it into your pocket. "I'll finish the job in a week," you said.
"Three days, that's all the time you have," he said.
Your eyebrows pulled together in surprise and confusion. "Only three days?"
"Are you not able to do it?" He scoffed, "If that's the case then you can see yourself out. I don't need useless people on this team."
You felt a sharp pang in your heart at his words, but you sucked it up nonetheless, nodding your head obediently. "I'll get the job done before three days, I will prove to you my worth."
"I wan't to see actions not hear words. It's useless if you can't even keep to your words, leave." He ordered coldly, turning his back on you.
Without another word, you exited his office, fists clenched tightly hidden in your pockets as you suppressed your anger and sadness.
Kakucho was waiting for you by the elevator, but he knew asking would only backfire on him, so he kept quiet, pushing on the elevator button as the two of you waited side by side.
"Great weather we have today, right?" He tried.
"It's raining."
"...Oh," he cleared his throat awkwardly. "Well-uh what do you say we play a little drinking game in the club?"
"Sure," you replied as the elevator doors slid open, but just as the two of you were about to enter, your phone rang with an unknown caller ID. "Hello?"
"Is this Y/N Haitani?" The voice asked.
"What business do you have with me?"
"Where's your boss?" He asked, ignoring your question.
Your brows furrowed slightly as you put it on speaker, allowing Kakucho to listen in. "That's none of your business."
"We have Kokonoi," he said. "And if you don't get us to your boss, we'll kill him."
"You don't have Koko," you insisted, shaking your head. "That's impossible."
"Is it?" The man chuckled menacingly. "Then who might this be?"
A notification bar popped up from the number, it was a video. You and Kakucho looked at each other before hitting the play button.
Your eyes went wide when you saw Kakucho, hands bound and mouth covered by duct tape, his entire form was battered and bruised, covered in dark blood.
"What the hell is this?" You asked lowly.
"Pity," the man snickered. "You can't even recognize your own friend."
There was venom in his tone as he uttered the last word, as if he was insulting you. "What the fuck do you want?"
"I believe I demanded to speak to your boss, not a low bitch like you," he said.
Kakucho glared at the device, taking the insult for you. He was about to say something but you quickly covered his mouth. "Fine, we'll get you to Mikey."
Quickly, you returned to Mikey's office with Kakucho tailing behind you. You knocked on the door before opening it, eyes finding Mikey's instantly.
"What is it this time?" He sighed.
You handed him your phone, showing him the video. "Someone's got Koko."
He looked at you. "So?"
"What the hell do you mean 'so'?" You growled.
"Easy," Kakucho warned, knowing full well it wasn't a wise decision to make Mikey feel disrespected.
"If he can't take care of himself, then he can't survive. It's as simple as that." He uttered, returning to his paperwork.
"What happened to all for one one for all?" You raised your voice, slamming your fist against his desk.
In an instant you heard a click as you felt cold metal press against the side of your head. "Watch your words, Y/N. Do not disrespect our leader," Kakucho muttered lowly.
You turned your head slowly, pushing against the barrel of his gun. "Fucking shoot me, Hitto."
"Enough," Mikey muttered as the two of you turned to him. "This isn't Toman, Y/N. Get that through your head. This is something Koko needs to save himself from, I won't be involving Bonten."
In an instant, you slapped the gun out of Kakucho's hand and stormed out of the room, feeling steam come out of your ears.
"How dare they," you muttered lowly. "If they wont help, I'll just have to do it myself."
You were pissed at Mikey, but you were even more pissed at Kakucho. You thought he would at least back you up but clearly that wasn't the case.
You lifted your phone back to your ear, voice low and cold. "You get all of that?"
The man who had been on the line the entire time chuckled, "I did. Well then, Y/N-san, it was a pleasure. I'll make sure to arrange your funeral nicely."
"Make sure you don't get any baby's breath in there, those flowers are nasty," you retorted, a malicious grin forming on your face.
Amusement dripped from the man's tone. "Your humor almost makes me not want to kill you, it's unfortunate we're rivals."
"Don't be shy, bring your best men." You challenged, stepping into the elevator. "I'll put up a real good fight for ya."
"Don't disappoint me."
"I'll disappoint whoever I please," you scoffed, rolling your eyes. "You won't be amused when I destroy your entire cartel."
The man laughed, nothing but excitement pumping through his veins. "I'd like to see you try."
You smirked, fingers tracing the cool metal of the pistol attached to your belt as the elevator reached the ground floor. "I wouldn't even need to lift a finger, Shendo-san."
