"Hey Kakucho, how are you feeling?" You asked as soon as he woke up. You were currently in the hospital checking up on him.

He looked at you with sleepy eyes. "Wa...ter..." he mumbled.

You took the glass of water on the side table and carefully helped him drink. "You fought well," you told him. "Not many would dare to stand against Mikey in that state. You could've died."

"I wish I did," he muttered. "Maybe then I could see him again."

Your expression softened, raising a hand as you gently caressed his cheek. "I miss him too, but dying isn't the solution to everything. He'd be sad to see you like this."

He kept quiet, staring into your eyes. There was a certain aura that pulled you closer to Kakucho in that moment, but you resisted. "Why are you here, Y/N?" He asked, breaking your moment of silence.

"I've been visiting you for the past few days while you were asleep, I still care about you Kakucho. You're still my family even if we've been separated for two years," you said.

"Well, I'm part of the Kantou Manji gang now," he sighed. "I guess I'm stuck with you again- AH!" He laughed as you smacked his shoulder lightly.

"Rude," you muttered, smiling too.

A sudden knock on the door caught your attention and the two of you turned to find Ran leaning against the door, a bouquet of flowers in his hand and a lazy smile on his face. "Am I interrupting?"

"Brother," you smiled, walking over and greeting him with a hug. "I didn't know you were coming."

"I didn't either, but I saw these nice flowers and couldn't help but remember a certain someone," he grinned, winking at Kakucho who looked away.

"Let me take those," you took the bouquet from his hands and went out to ask for a vase, leaving the two of them alone in the hospital room.

You went over to the front desk of the floor you were in and asked for a vase to place the flowers in before heading over to the bathroom to fill it with a bit of water. When you returned to the room you nearly dropped the vase, a gasp left your mouth at the sight before you.

Ran was kissing Kakucho.

The two parted suddenly at your commotion, both flustered and blushing messes. "Well that's certainly not leaving my head for the next 32 days."

"Don't you know how to knock?" Ran asked, mildly irritated.

"Don't you know this is a hospital and you can't just go around kissing patients?" You countered, causing his face to heat up as he looked away once more.

You pursed your lips, doing your best to hold back your laugh.

"Get out of here already!" Ran huffed, crossing his arms.

You raised your arms in mock surrender, laughing lightly. "Alright, alright! I'm leaving!" You walked towards the door but right as you were about to slip out you added, "Use protection!"

"Y/N!!!"

* * *

As you walked through the halls of the hospital you nearly bumped into someone, apologizing as you didn't bother looking up. "Y/N?"

You raised your gaze from the ground and your eyes widened as you recognized the person standing before you. "...Inupi."

Suddenly all the memories from your original life flashed through your mind, a pang hit your chest when you realized that the Inui standing before you knew nothing of it, you were still just childhood friends, nothing more.

"It's been a long time," he said.

"What are you doing here, Inupi?" You asked, tilting your head slightly.

He opened his arms for a hug, smiling at you. "That's no way to greet your best friend."

You rolled your eyes, your own smile growing on your face as you walked into his embrace, wrapping your arms around his waist as well. "Clingy as ever, aren't we, Inupi?"

"I'm allowed to be clingy," he said, resting his chin on your shoulder. "I haven't seen you in so long and you expect me to just say 'hi'?"

"Unless you're my boyfriend, I kind of expect less," you laughed.

He pulled back slightly, keeping his arms around your waist. "Is this your way of confessing to me?" He teased.

"Think you can even handle being in a relationship with me?" You taunted, raising an eyebrow.

"I've been your best friend for years, I think I can handle you pretty well," he said.

You raised your hand, messing up his hair affectionately. "Silly boy."

"How's Koko? I haven't seen him since... that day..." his voice grew soft toward the end, he was still hurting from Draken's death, you could tell.

You pulled him in for another hug, resting your hand on the back of his head. "Koko's alright, but I can tell you're not... do you want to talk about it?"

He shook his head, burying his face in the crook of your neck... the same safe space he had in your first life. You smiled nostalgically as you tightened your arms around him, missing what you had.

"Can you stay with me for a while? I could use the company."

How could you deny him when he was asking so nicely?

"Sure, ba- Inupi," you looked away from him, nearly slipping at the old nickname you used to call him. "Shall we head to your bike shop?" You asked.

He nodded, a small smile on his face. "Thanks, Y/N."

"You can always count on me," you smiled, kissing his cheek.

"I miss having you around," he mumbled. "Can't you visit me more often?"

"That depends if I have the time, I'm usually busy running errands with Koko and Sanzu most of the time." You told him truthfully, slightly disappointed that your schedule wont allow you to spend time with someone who used to be your beloved.

A small pout formed on his face as he stared at you like a sad puppy. "But-"

Oh the things you would do to shut him up with a kiss right now.

Instead you placed your finger on his lips, shushing him. "I'll do my best."
