You stood up, ready to walk out of the apartment when you heard a sudden thump on the ground.
When you turned around, Inui was on his knees, reaching out to you. "Please," he whispered weakly. "Don't leave me please..."
Something twisted inside of you, strange and uncomfortable... painful. Was this guilt?
It mattered not to you what it was, but having him beg so desperately, seeing how fragile he was melted the ice that coated your heart amidst the flames of a heated argument.
"Baby..." you looked at him, your own pain flashing in your eyes as you fully turned and crouched down to his level, pulling him into your embrace.
He broke down at that, sobs wracking his body as he clung to you desperately. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry for starting a fight, p-please don't leave me."
You shushed him gently, stroking his hair as you pressed kisses on the corners of his teary eyes.
"Breathe baby, you're okay, just breathe," you comforted as he continued to cry in your arms. "I'm sorry too."
You loved him.
You didn't need to be a genius to figure that out, but you couldn't love him, because he just couldn't fit back into your life that way.
He lived a normal, simple life, and you were a wanted criminal who's face and true name remained unknown. An executive of Japan's top criminal organization.
It was the same with Baji.
How could you do that to them? You loved them both, how could you pick one over the other?
It was better this way, that they never know you love them, that they never get deeply involved with you.
No strings attached, your golden rule.
One that was broken a long time ago, you were just too stubborn to admit it yourself.
You were attached, just as much as they were.

You spent the night in Inui's apartment, holding him in your arms and cuddling him the entire night. It was the least you could do, not that you had to.
Truth be told all these things are just excuses for your own selfish deeds. It was your comfort and love that got them attached in the first place, if only you were more careful.
Carefully, you slipped away from Inui's hold, heading over to the bathroom for a little while to relive yourself.
Meanwhile Inui had woken up sensing the lack of your presence and upon realizing your disappearance, begun to panic.
"Y/N?" He whimpered, scanning the room.
You heard this as you wiped your hands, quickly rushing out of the bathroom. "What's wrong baby?"
He looked at you teary-eyed before opening his arms, silently asking for a hug.
You couldn't help but melt as your gaze softened, walking over to him and straddling his lap, arms wrapping around him once more as he sniffled, comforted after returning to your embrace.
"I love you," he whispered softly.
"I know." You kissed his forehead before pulling back to rest your cheek on his head, fingers threading through his hair. "Go back to sleep, okay baby?"
He shook his head, pressing closer to you. "I wanna stay like this," he mumbled.
"Okay, whatever you want love." You pressed another kiss on his head as he tightened his arms around you.

Eyes were on you as you entered Bonten's main building. It was a tech business Koko built up at the beginning of the era of the three deities.
It was built during the time he, you, and Sanzu were in the Kanto Manji gang and your brothers were in Rokuhara Tandai with Kakucho and Mochi.
You wondered to yourself what tasks Mikey had in store for you, silently hoping it wasn't anything too crazy.
Then again you had to be ready for anything as a top executive of Bonten.
You knocked on the large double doors of Mikey's private office before pushing it open, stepping inside. "Mikey?"
His eyes left the screen of his laptop, darting to look at you. "Y/N, how are you feeling?"
You were definitely taken aback by the question, not expecting Mikey to show even the slightest care to your condition. "I—uh I'm doing better."
"That's good, I have a mission for you," he said, closing his laptop and clasping his hands together in front of him.
"What is it?" You asked, walking closer and stopping in front of his desk.
"I need you to take care of someone who's been trying to find me."
You felt it click inside your mind instantly, he was talking about Hanagaki Takemichi.
"I see you know who I'm talking about," Mikey said, raising an eyebrow. "Kill him."
"Hold on now, you're not even going to hear what he has to say?"
"I have no reason to," he replied simply. "This is the best outcome."
Your brows furrowed in confusion, best outcome?
"I think you should listen to what he has to say," you told him honestly.
He eyed you sharply, hawk like gaze piercing through you. "Are you going against my order, Y/N?"
You shook your head. "Not at all, but I believe it's something important and worth listening to, don't just kill him right off the bat."
"I will do as I wish," he replied coldly, the warning in his tone not going unnoticed by you.
You straightened up, your own demeanor leveling with his. "Got it, boss."
Your tone was icy and Mikey's eyes widened at the sudden change of formality. Something uncomfortable stirred within him. He didn't like it, not one bit.
"If that's all may I take my leave?" You asked.
"Once."
Your brows knitted together in confusion. "Pardon?"
"I'll meet him, once. I'll take care of it, just be on standby." His instructions were unclear to you, but you nodded along anyway.
"I understand."
"Make sure to let Sanzu know too, I'll be taking him with us," he ordered.
"Yes, boss."
"Mikey," he corrected.
"What?"
"You call me Mikey," he said.
You hesitated for a moment. "...Yes, Mikey."
"Dismissed."
You walked away from his office, confused yet determined. It wasn't difficult to find Sanzu as he walked by with Rindo, laughing loudly at whatever they talked about.
"Sanzu! RinRin!" You waved.
The two looked at you, smiles on their faces as they headed over.
"Sup sis," Rindo greeted, messing up your hair.
"Yo Donkey Kong," Sanzu grinned teasingly as you stuck your tongue out at him.
"Mikey has orders for Sanzu to accompany him and I with his next job," you told the two.
"Ohoho, finally getting your groove back on, Y/N?" Sanzu said.
You gave him a weird look as Rindo asked, "Groove? What are you on?"
"Izana's ashes, probably," you snorted as Rindo laughed loudly.
Sanzu squinted at the two of you before smacking your head playfully. "Shut up, Donkey Kong."
"Make me, Princess Peach."
