I think we're all mentally ill.

Those of us outside the asylums only hid it a little better -

and maybe not all that much better after all

"There was another murder last night, apparently it was an entire group of teenagers where everyone had been gutted open like pigs."

Nora and Jessica were sitting in the cafeteria, watching students and teacher walking by without taking notice of them at all.

It had been a little more than a week ago since the first murder was reported. Since then there had been several other ones, everyone more brutally executed than the one before. Last night it'd been some poor teenagers who didn't take the warnings from the media seriously and ended up in a pile of bodies a few meters away from the police station. Apparently it had been one of the girl's she met in the restroom a week ago younger brother and his friends who had become the unlucky ones.

The police and media worked like crazy trying to catch this killer, but all their attempts were in vain. No matter what they did or tried this person always seemed to be several steps ahead of them and never left enough proofs or evidence behind on the crime scene.

However, the police did have a clue and a speculation: that whoever committed these crimes was without any doubts an expert and must have been doing this for rather plenty of years. They also speculated around the weapon that was being used was nothing more than a simple kitchen knife, hence making the police's work even more difficult since it was such an easily obtained tool made it impossible to track the buyer of it down.

Nora became fluttered with anger.

It's just like a freaking game for this insane lunatic, mocking us for not being able to catch him or her.

"My parents are beginning to get worried. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to lock me inside my room to prevent the killer from taking my life. Like that would prevent anything."

"Don't say something like that Jess, you should be thankful that they care for you"

Jessica traced the coffee mug with her fingers without looking at Nora.

"Yeah, I know. Sorry"

Nora blew on her hot tea and was just about to place the cup on the table when she felt a chilling hand around her mouth. She nearly dropped the cup in the ground while jumping one meter in the chair. Jessica looked at her surprised before grinning hugely, showing her perfect white teeth.

"That's really a hit below the belt Jim considering there's a killer on the loose in this town who probably would do something similar to what you just did if it had the chance."

"Guess why I did it then" Jim's voice said while he smiled a bit evilly.

Jim let go with his cold hand in front of her mouth and took a set next to the two friends, while Nora glared at him in frustration.

"That was defiantly not funny Jim"

"For me it was" he mocked her and smiled, before he saw her upset face and quickly apologized to her.

"I suppose the news have gotten to you two as well as all the others in this school about what happened last night?" he said while looking at his phone.

"Yeah" Jessica answered him. "I heard it was Maggie's younger brother Derek and his friends who were the unlucky ones. Seems like this killer doesn't spare anyone in any category of age."
