"I-I can't- I can't walk anymore Nora, I must stop" Jim spoke breathless with his strained voice as he tried to get away from Nora who was helping him stand up. He collapsed against a tree trunk as he grinned in pain once his leg touched the ground.

"It's- it's probably better if you just...Leave..LEave me here and continue-"

"FOR THE LAST TIME: I'm Not leaving you here Jim! Please understand that!"

She crouched down next to him as she looked down at the fleshy hole in his leg, pants soaked with the crimson colour. She knew that the bleeding needed to be stopped, although she prayed that the stabbing hadn't been fatal and hadn't hit the artery in the thigh. Nora took off Jim's jacket as he shivered unwillingly as the cold night air scraped his skin.

"Hold still" Nora whispered as she bound the fabric tightly around his injured leg, Jim grimacing due the pressure. Once done Nora ripped a part of her own t-shirt asunder, exposing the skin on her stomach completely to the coolness before a bit forcefully and stressfully binding the fabric this time around Jim's injured hand. It became nearly soaked immediately and Nora knew he needed medical treatment or else... She forced that thought out of her head as she desperately tried to get Jim's heavy body to stand up.

"Thank- Y,you-"

"Thank me later, we're not in the clear yet"

She helped Jim up whose weight seemed to become greater and greater as they tried to find their way back to civilization. Nora had found the flashlight she dropped earlier but lost the spare batteries and the lighter when she fell, and now the light began to flicker slightly causing it to be even more difficult to find their way back to town. She turned frantically around, icy shivers running through her body that Jeff would be standing there, angry and filled with terrifying revenge.

However, they couldn't give up though. Not after all they'd been through.

Nora became almost impressed by herself due to the strength she for some reason could feel flowing in her veins, although it still left her breathless as she desperately tried to find the same way she'd walked earlier. Her ears rang painfully and a headache had crept along her neck and back of her head ever since they managed to escape from Jeff.

"N,no-r,a"

She looked at Jim who was hanging with his head against her shoulder, sweat dripping from his forehead and dried blood coming from the wounds Jeff had given him. He looked so pale and fragile that it reminded her of an infant.

"I'm, I'm sor-sorr,y"

"You're sorry? Stop that now Jim, we both know which one of us that are to blame for...this. I don't wanna hear any more of that from you now okay? You just need to stay strong and... carry on..."

He needed to get to the hospital or else Nora was afraid he wouldn't make it. But, if she took him there, her involvement and connection with Jeff would be brought to the surface once and for all thus ultimately leading to her end. They would figure out what had happened to the two of them and they would arrest Nora for helping Jeff, despite her not doing it willingly. She felt the panic try to take control of her body but forced it away as she knew deepest down that she had to do what was right, no matter how much it ached due to the great risk that was being taken in case Jeff would find out, since she knew which ones that would have to pay the price for her failure if so.

Just as she was giving up on finding a way out from the thick maze of trees and rocks, the sound of flowing water filled her ears.

Water! It means that we much be near the river! And if we're luckily we might find the bridge which lead straight into town!!
