cigarette daydream you were only 17

Did you stand there all alone?
Oh I cannot explain what's going down

I can see you standing next to me
In and out somewhere else right now
You sigh, look away
I can see it clear as day
Close your eyes, so afraid
Hide behind that baby face

You can drive all night
Looking for answers in the pouring rain
You wanna find peace of mind
Looking for the answer

Funny how it seems like yesterday
As I recall you were looking out of place
Gathered up your things and slipped away
No time at all I followed you into the hall

Cigarette daydream
You were only seventeen
Soft speak with a mean streak
Nearly brought me to my knees

You can drive all night
Looking for the answers in the pouring rain
You wanna find peace of mind
Looking for the answer

If we could find a reason, a reason to change
Looking for the answer
If you could find a reason, a reason to stay
Standing in the pouring rain

She left the house a lot, she wanted to have a normal teenage life, but no, she had to be stuck in this awful life, yes her life was better now but the memories that she did have haunted her.

And so she looked at the stars she was wondering if it would ever get normal. She wished she could get answers to the thousands of questions that were filling her brain

A few weeks ago she had gone to the local skate park she had teleported there while still invisible and sat on the edge of the rink admiring the kids of her age having fun, she decided she wanted to make friends, what could go wrong, her hair was dyed black and she had changed a lot, no one would remember her.

And so she walked into the park next to the skatepark and hid behind a tree looking around her to make sure it was clear before turning visible.

She walked over to the skate park and sat back down where she had sat first she watched a little girl on roller-skates going down a mini slope and she already had the feeling it was going to go wrong. Her instincts were always right.

And so at the last moment, the girl was about to ride over a tiny pebble, she knew she shouldn't but she did it anyways and with one flick of her hand the pebble rolled out of the way and the little girl skated on with a smile on her face.

"hey there," Alex shot up she didn't notice a girl her age had taken a seat beside her. "hi" she said and the girl held out her hand "I'm Megan, you're new here" she said as Alex shook her hand. "yeah I guess I am, I just moved her" she smoothly lied.

The girl nodded "well welcome to the neighborhood.... what's your name?" shit she couldn't tell this girl her real name "I'm star" she didn't know why but it was the first name that came to her mind.

"star.. badass name it suits you, well welcome to the hood, come one I'll introduce you to my friends" the girl said before standing up and flicking a couple of her box braids over her shoulder. Lex looked at the braids, she had her natural black color going into a deep red it looked awesome.

"yo people, look what I found" Megan said putting her arm around Lex's shoulder who flinched at the touch. Megan noticed and took her hand off. "You are one of those traumatized bitches well welcome to the club" she said with a laugh the others chuckled too while Lex just stayed quiet, very confused.

"you don't know what that means do you?" one of the boys asked catching on and Lex nodded. "no not a clue, sorry I uhm, I got in an accident and I woke up with amnesia, I still don't have my memory back so" she explained, it wasn't a lie.
