The Captain/ Connor's POV
I had just left the noble's room with haste. Apparently his father is extremely busy, so a letter would be much better than a call. With that decided, our conversation was over, I should probably manage the ship more often anyway.
"Hey."
I quickly turned my head behind me. A muscular black haired man stood before me. Face filled with freckles and an iconic orange hat.
"Ace, what are you doing here?" I asked him.
He stared at me with intense eyes. "You were there that day...you saw him-" he looked away, stopping his words.
I stood in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Ace shouted. "I've already told the noble about this, but I had a younger brother back then. Ten years ago I was told he died from a Celestial Dragon! They shot him down as he sailed out to sea!"
My eyes stared into his frustrated glare.
My breath was heavy, we were both extremely tense. "So that blonde kid, the top hat with the noble get up was your brother?!"
Ace looked down to the cold wood floor. "Not by blood, but we were brothers. I don't want to get into it too much. I just wanted to make sure you saw him." He spoke, turning away from the conversation.
"Hey, Kid." I called out.
Ace stopped in his tracks, but he remained looking away.
"I know it must've been hard for you, but tell me one thing." I walked towards him slightly. "Why did he leave Goa Kingdom? Was it because he saw what was happening to Gray Terminal?"
Ace remained silent, afraid to speak.
I explained. "Ace, ever since I saw that kid...die, I wanted to know his motivations. Why he left in the first place, why he became a pirate, anything at all. He was my reason for hating higher up's-"
"Sabo was a noble." Ace spoke.
I stopped speaking and carefully listened to Ace. "Was I finally getting some information?" I thought.
"Despite this, his parents treated him terribly so he ran to Gray Terminal. Even though he was just a kid, he was abused for stepping out of line. We met on Mount Corvo and at the age of five, we started stealing money." Ace leaned on the wall.
"Our plan was to save up for buying a ship. We were gonna be pirates and leave Goa Kingdom. Five years later we met Luffy, our younger brother. After some time we all swore over three cups of sake in the woods."
This was the story, the story of a kid that changed so many lives.
"No matter where we were, we'd always be brothers."
The story of a kid who was killed by the world.
"One day, his father brought him back to High Town. Sabo unwillingly left to protect Luffy and I. After that day, I had no clue what happened to Sabo. I do know what happened after the fire in Gray Terminal, though." He spoke as he walked away from the noble's room.
