We all die, the goal isn't to live forever, it is to create something that will. A lone figure stared at the mass of black stone and obsidian. His blonde hair streaked with white was a tell tale for all, Tommyinnit. He turned his back on the cage that kept his worst fear. Dream.
There's nothing I can do. He had to repeat the phrase over and over in his head. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before Dream escaped. His mind played the scenes over and over again like a movie, that was supposed to be his last time in there. He had his hotel, he was ready to move on. But Dream wasn't. Tommy cringed when he thought of the explosions, the lock down. He shouldn't have killed that cat. He chewed his lip inhaling deeply. The sun wasn't even up yet and he could already smell the sweet dew. Maybe it was just his imagination. As Tommy took one final look at the prison, he made up his mind. This was the last time he would visit the prison, this time he was going to move on.
As Tommy walked slowly back to his house, he felt lighter, better about the day. He quickly slipped into his house, Shroud still looked pretty grumpy so for now he wouldn't bother his little pet. Tommy opened his enderchest sorting through his most precious possessions until he grabbed the disc, cat. He turned and walked back out as the chest swung closed, he sat down on his bench as Cat began to play on his jukebox. Finally relaxing Tommy wasn't afraid to close his eyes, a small smile drifting onto his face as he felt the warmth of the rising sun hit it.
"A new day, a good day, hey Tubbo" he said quietly, of course there was no response. Tubbo, was thousands of blocks away probably getting ready to work at Quackity's burger restaurant. Tubburger. Tommy's eyes cracked open, half expecting him to be there. After he obviously wasn't there Tommy's smile faded just a little before he reminded himself that he wasn't the only one moving on, he had a kid now and a husband, as much as Tommy pretended to despised Ranboo he knew that he was there for his best friend, when Tommy wasn't.
After he had had his moments to remember, Tommy stood up. He could smell the flowers around now.
"Tommy!" He turned to hear the voice of his therapist.
"Hey Puffy" Captain Puffy beamed to hear Tommy reply, usually she just got a grumble of begrudging greeting.
"How are you Tommy? Ready for our session?" she asked. The blonde boy nodded "walk and talk?" she suggested. Tommy joined her as they walked, there was no destination, not today. Tommy looked out over the lake,
"I went to the prison last night" he began, Puffy raised an eyebrow. "I was thinking about what you said to me last session, about overcoming this and being ready to move on"
"So you went to the prison?"
"I didn't actually go inside, I just stayed outside. Did some fishing and thinking" Puffy nodded to show she was listening as her mind turned over a thousand ideas of what Tommy was thinking. "I decided that I wasn't going to go anymore, that was my last time ever going near the prison".
"Okay". Puffy said, coaxing him to continue, Tommy stopped walking.
"I'm ready to move on now, Puffy," he said. His voice was level, Tommy really had thought this over.
"Okay then, well when you're ready we can go over the next step" Puffy said pausing "take your time with this, this could be a big adjustment"
"I'm ready now" Tommy affirmed, Puffy scrunched up her eyebrows.
"Are you sure?" she tentatively asked, "this is a big step and it's going to be hard for everyone". Tommy frowned
"Everyone?" as soon as the words left his mouth he groaned. "Puffy no"
"Come on Tommy you need to make amends with them"
"But what about Wilbur?" he whined. Right, Wilbur's back, Puffy sighed. Although she didn't know the original Wilbur. Tommy was adamant about him being a wrong'un. He would never go into great depths as to what happened during the period that he was dead, but Puffy got the gist. Wilbur, Revivebur whatever you wanted to call him was not good for Tommy's health. Both mentally and physically.
"Well you were telling me about this burger van he was right?" she asked, Tommy nodded. "We'll just go whilst he's at work." she paused "and by we I mean you." Tommy cringed. "You don't have to take that step yet, it's a big step. But since techno got out of prison, i feel like soon would be the best time to go" Puffy held her tongue from saying anymore. That was enough for now.
"Do you think he'll accept? After I betrayed him like that?" Tommy asked, Puffy nodded.
"Anything else you'd like to add?" she asked, Tommy shrugged
"Not really"
"Okay then, i'll see you next week?" she asked. Tommy nodded, stopping his walk, he waved slightly to Puffy as she disappeared from his view before heading back to his house.
Shroud was probably restless by now.
Tommy looked out at the lake then in the direction of techno's house. He laughed quietly, a silent tear slipping down his face, but it didn't reach his cheek before it was swept away. He turned and walked into his house, greeting his arachnid companion he slipped a secret glance at the bedrock he kept in his enderchest. As Shroud bumped Tommy's arm sensing distress in his human counterpart. Tommy laughed,
"I'm okay buddy" he sighed
"Today isn't the day"
