chapter 13 - fighting to know if you're ready

Everyone has a family that you are born into, then you have the family that you chose to love and they will love you no matter what. Tommyinnit lost his chosen family, that was his fault. He felt as though he had been given another chance, yet he couldn't shake the words of Puffy. 'Focus on who you know for now Tommy' he knew he should, he knew that he needed to talk to Techno and soon, but he just couldn't. Why would he forgive him? Everything that happened was on Tommy and he knew it, but he wasn't going to dwell on it anymore.

Tommy was grateful for all the Puffy had done for him. Even if she was still mad about him and Sapnap sneaking off for a few days, for no apparent reason. But he knew that one day he would have to start fending for himself.

That was why he was mining alone as of now, getting diamonds by himself. He was left alone with his thoughts which made him wonder. Where were his brothers? And better yet who were they?

He wondered if they were in the smp? If they were made in the labs, did they look like him? His mind began to wander, the other blonde guys on the smp never mentioned anything about them being in a lab and whoever the oldest brother was sure would remember him, right?

He shook his head,

"I'm being stupid" he muttered as he found the precious gem he was looking for, "finally, this cave is far too big to not have any diamonds. He looked around making sure no one was around, of course there wasn't. He was completely alone.

He placed a crafting table on the ground, making a diamond sword, as he put the crafting table on away he gave the sword a swing to test its strength. "That's sharp," he muttered. He counted the amount of iron he had. "More than enough for a shield" He glanced around again.

A little solo sparring wouldn't hurt.

He visualised his opponent, he gave a short jab towards his imaginary enemy, dodging a swing.

Dream was behind him,

He swiftly turned using his shield to block the blow, he rolled back keeping a distance. He swung out hoping to hit and make a mark.

It hit Techno's shield as he yelled 'again' an axe coming straight to Tommy's face

He ducked, swung his leg out and spun on the balls of his feet, keeping balance.

Philza dropped to the floor a low kicked aimed to trip Tommy

Tommy stepped back shifting his weight to one foot, the other swinging high in the air with a well placed kick.

Wilbur looked at Tommy with a manic grin. He stepped forward feinted then went to slam into Tommy with his full weight.

Tommy stumbled back tripping over his own feet, falling flat onto his back with a wheezing 'oof'.

Dream stood above him swinging his sword down.

Tommy flung his body weight to the side rolling to the side to avoid the blow. He flipped himself up.

Techno used a fishing rod to try and get Tommy to lose his footing again. Tommy grabbed the fishing rod, catching his opponent off guard

He moved faster, swinging with more precision and strength than before.

Philza was in the air, how did he even move so fast? Tommy twisted himself flipping in the air, he landed on one foot swinging his arms to catch himself.

He waited for the right moment before landing a swift kick to Wilbur's chest sending him sprawling.

Tommy leaped into the air ready to strike down onto Sapnap's shield

Wait

SAPNAP.

Tommy let his weapon slide back into his inventory; he let his feet touch the edges of the demon's shield before he pushed himself off, trying to absorb as much of the impact as he could; he let himself fall to the floor, turning around to see Sapnap's shield disappear.

"I'm sorry big man" he yelped. Sapnap put his hand up to signal he was fine.

"I really don't think I need to take you to a mercenary academy. You clearly know a lot more than you show" he said. "Where did you learnt that kind of fighting"

"Uh, Techno, Phil, Wilbur" Tommy said, Sapnap raised an eyebrow

"Why did you never fight like that in the doomsday war?" he asked. Tommy looked away

"I already felt as though I was betraying my mentor already, why would I use what he taught me against him." Tommy admitted, Sapnap slung his arm over Tommy's shoulder guiding him towards the cave exit.

"Go talk to him dude. If it goes wrong. You've got a house here, and people by your side" he said as they got to the outside world. Tommy shielded his eyes from the bright light and smiled. "Unless of course you aren't ready for that step" Sapnap added, Tommy shook his head.

"No, I think I am"
