Chapter 29- Is he a lost cause?

"Fuck fuck" Sapnap screamed as kicking the wall beside his bedroom, the rust coloured walls doing nothing to quell his fury. "Karl" he muttered looking at the brunette seated on the floor by the wall. "Karl, I think I fucked up. Bad" Karl turned to look at him with a cold glare.

"You think Sap?" he snapped, Sapnap stiffened, "you panicked" Karl said in a softer tone. "We all did, but in the end, what could we have done, we didn't know" Sapnap slumped against the wall beside Karl.

"I let the one thing Dream was set on go, I let Tommy go straight to the hands of Dream and- and George, he helped." Sapnap began to wring his hands, Karl reached up to stop him, he watched as his fiance's eyes glazed over.

Sapnap had been chasing Dream for days only to return empty handed, with a dull look in his eyes, Dream had practically fallen off the face of the earth. Not only that, there was no trace of Tommy, or Ranboo and even more worryingly Wilbur.

Sapnap's first instinct was to go straight to Philza, although he was not on the best of terms with Kinoko kingdom. If anyone would know where at least one of the missing three were, it would be him.

"Philza! Oi!" Sapnap yelled banging on the door and then the windows to Philza's cottage. He knew someone was home, as there was a steady hum of a baritone voice muttering consistently. Finally Technoblade answered the door.

"Sapnap?" his voice was deeper than before and with a weak wobble.

"Hey, uh. Can I come in?" Sapnap asked, eyes flicking past the hulking figure inside to see another figure hunched over a table, papers strewn all over.

"Yeah, I guess" Techno stepped to the side. Allowing for Sapnap to walk in. Philza looked up immediately.

"Sapnap? What the hell are you doing here?" Sapnap cleared his throat.

"Tommy, Wilbur and Ranboo are missing. With Dream out of prison, I'm worried"

"You should be" Techno muttered, Sapnap turned and looked at Philza

"We've failed," he said simply, casting his eyes down to the papers. Sapnap followed his gaze, the papers were in fact maps. There were pins and sketched along each piece. A messy red X, had been drawn on what looked to be Techno and Phil's property, with the words 'last seen here'

"He came here?" Sapnap asked

"They" Phil corrected.

Sapnap had run home, only to find Karl, tied up, unconscious and a large smiley face scrawled across the wall.

Sapnap's eyes flicked towards the glaring smile.

"What happened again?" Sapnap asked quietly, Karl slowly breathed in.

"I was reading, Dream burst through the door, Tommy, Ranboo and Wilbur in tow. They asked where you were and I wouldn't tell them." Karl took a shuddering breath in. No matter how many times he recounted the tale, it never got any easier. "I think he was going to try to torture the answers out of me, he took out potions of weakness and harming. But George came in. He begged Dream to leave me alone, I don't even remember when I had been tied up. I think it might have been Ranboo." Karl paused, Sapnap put an arm around him. It seemed to give him the courage he needed to continue. "Something's been going on between the two of them since even before prison, I think we all knew it, but George, he admitted to helping Dream get out right in front of me"

"What were his exact words?" Sapnap asked.

"Don't hurt Karl, you promised me when I got you out of there, you'd only do what was necessary. I guess this wasn't necessary, because he stopped. It was George who actually knocked me out"

Sapnap inhaled sharply. Karl grasped onto Sapnap's hand.

"Now tell me your side"

"I ran home, I saw on the maps that they had gone towards Kinoko, I saw George slumped up against the tree, covered in blood. Either he attacked Dream or Dream attacked him, I came in to get some potions to help him and then I saw you. By the time you were conscious and I remembered about him. He was. Gone." Sapnap sighed, finally sitting beside Karl. "Techno is going to look for him, I want to come, it's the least I can do"

"No, you need to stay here and protect our home. There are people here relying on you for safety"

"Tommy was! Tommy was relying on me for a place to stay and I was a coward and left him out in the cold to save my own skin"

"What could you have done? That boy was a lost cause"

Sapnap's eyes flicked up to the glaring smile once again.

"A lost cause because of me"

Hey guys, sorry that I haven't been active since, like December. 

Hopefully that's gonna change now.

Quick update: I am in year twelve officially and this year has already been a wild ride. 

My family and I are now staying with some relatives due to the fact that our house's second floor is completely flooded. But hey that's life.

I do want to thank those who have been commenting on this book, you guys are angels seriously. It's because of you that I've finally gotten the motivation to continue. I was initially going to put this book on permanent hiatus, but will be continuing this (and the potential sequel too.
