Tommy stood tiredly, Dream was patting Wilbur on the back, not that he cared. He stumbled forward into the arms of Wilbur, his own vitality seeping into Tommy like a surge of energy.
"Thankyou" he whispered to the smaller boy. Tommy just sighed, Wilbur was warm. He didn't care what he had just agreed to. He could muster an emotion towards it.
Was this how Ranboo felt? calm; although tired. He didn't feel like crying anymore. A strange rumble of satisfaction welled up in his chest as Wilbur toyed with his hair.
Dream stifled a chuckle at the purring dreamon.
"Well done Wilbur." he said looking between his two brothers.
"Now just to get that anger back into him" the brunette muttered. Pulling away from the exhausted kid, Tommy didn't even hold himself the way he used to. That energy, the surge of anger and chaos. That was still needed for his saviours plan. Dream had finally reconnected Tommy to Wilbur and even allowed him to break down the rebellious bonds of the youngest. Wilbur couldn't help but feel a little smug at the fact that Dream had tried again and again to break Tommy down and Wilbur had done it so successfully. Dream probably had worn him down enough for him to get through.
"Come on," Dream said, walking out of the cave and into the natural light of the moon. Wilbur followed as did Ranboo, without question. Tommy trudged along shuffling his feet, yet there was no reluctance.
He truly had been stripped of everything and now.
Now the games began.
Tommy rested for three days straight before waking with a start. His first reaction was to struggle but he soon relaxed and listened to Wilbur and finally, Dream.
It took a day before they could untie him, he wasn't going to run. He couldn't; wouldn't.
"You remember your promise to me right Tommy?" Wilbur asked. Tommy rubbed his wrists and nodded, but didn't speak. He tossed the blonde a sword, only wooden but a sword nonetheless. Dream mocked him silently, but has just as quietly reminded what someone who had been trained by some of the most skilled warriors could do with so much as a stick when the duo began to spar, slow at first the mental and physical fatigue Tommy was experiencing weighing him down until Wilbur started to speak, mocking him.
"You're a warrier, if you weren't so young" he spoke softly, the tone borderline reassuring.
But Tommy was a warrier, wasn't he?
The blank mature looking face Tommy now bore creased as he frowned. Suddenly he wasn;t as tired; he wasn't feeling energetic, but he found he could push himself just that little bit further now. The skillful strokes of the swords increased, becoming faster.
"Not bad" Wilbur spoke again, why did he sound so disappointed?
Confusion and annoyance filled the blonde, fueling his cautious footsteps. Pushing a little harder, the more he pushed the less fatigued he felt. That began the cycle; Wilbur would say something spiteful in an almost reassuring tone, confusing Tommy and in result pushing himself further, fighting harder.
"Your footwork is skittish calm down"
"There was an opening there, watch your back"
They started subtly, minor corrections. Things you would expect from a more experienced fighter.
"Your hits are sloppy, come on"
"You're going to die in a real battle."
"Pack white flags, this is disappointing"
Then the words began to become as viscous as the attacks, silently Tommy mirrored each manic swing of Wilbur's sword and an annoyed gleam grew larger in his eye after each insult.
"This is so disappointing, this is why Techno killed you"
Tommy's sword was nearly knocked from his hand earning a scoff from Wilbur, each mistake began to earn a sting from the sword which would quickly bruise and an equally hurtful remark.
"Sword up, or you'll have Phil's sword in your chest before you can blink"
"Tubbo taught himself and even he could defend himself. Or maybe you just lack self preservation"
"This is why L'manburg fell"
"You should be learning from your mistakes"
"I feel sick that you are my brother"
"I'm going to watch you die one day, aren't I?"
"Phil expected better"
"Techno taught you better"
"Tubbo depended on you"
"No wonder everyone you loved died"
"No wonder" Tommy spat back, as his foot swept Wilbur's legs out from under him causing the man to stumble onto the ground. The wooden sword clattered to the ground causing Dream to quickly turn his head from where he had been sparring with Ranboo. Wilbur's chin was lifted up, the tip of Tommy's sword pressed harshly against his throat, the two of them were breathing heavily; Wilbur due to the sword closing his windpipe and Tommy due to the anger and hatred coursing through him, his eyes reflecting the emotion. No longer dulled but once again a bright toxic blue. His lips were pulled back into an uncharacteristically sinister snarl. "No wonder everyone died" he repeated back to Wilbur who gripped the sword.
"Why do you care about them?"
Tommy blinked.
"What?"
"Why do you care?" Wilbur said again, this time louder. "They hated you, they were never there." Tommy rolled his eyes, Dream seemed to be taken aback with this new side of Tommy. "No Tommy, they don't deserve your loyalty." Wilbur said, a note of urgency threaded through his voice.
"SHUT UP" Tommy screamed. "I am sick and tired of everyone trying to twist me into their little puppet. I am no toy. I. am. Done." he spat out, after a brief pause he turned to Dream, removing the sword that was, until then, still pointed at Wilbur's vulnerable.
"You've all made me the bad guy," he snarled out. "No you all have to accept the consequences of what you created"
Dream removed his mask, his calm expression made Tommy laugh.
"Guess I am just like you aren't I?" The tone was cruel, Dream nodded.
"You are"
"Good, because I want them to see what they did to US" he gestured to the four of them.
"We are the bad guys, every good story needs them" Dream responded, a sharp smirk revealing unnaturally long canines.
"This isn't a story, there are no good guys, only those who come out on top" Tommy responded darkly.
"So who's going to see their creation first?" Dream asked, not just talking to Tommy but to Ranboo too. The younger two brothers looked at each other as if reading the mind of the other.
"How about we save the best for last?" Wilbur interrupted before either could speak. Ranboo snickered, knowing full well who Tommy was going to say, but Wilbur was right.
Save the best for last.
