Friends ask you questions, enemies question you. Tommy was questioning both his and Sapnap's sanity.
This was not a good idea, Puffy is going to freak out and the duo had been walking for hours on end to no avail. Nothing nothing was familiar to Tommy, as the desert turned to Savannah then to plains, when it began raining or snowing in some cases. They were now wandering in an absolutely massive birch forest.
"Anything familiar at all?" Sapnap asked, how is this man not getting impatient? Tommy sighed, turning his body a full 360.
"Nothing," Tommy groaned. The two sat down on the side of a grassy mountain, Sapnap offered Tommy some food after his stomach began to rumble. Sapnap had honestly thought it was a zombie at first, at least it got a laugh out of the two weary travellers.
Tommy closed his eyes for a few minutes as Sapnap finished his meal. He examined the mountain. Something just wasn't right. As he circled it, he found vines only covering one patch of the mountain.
"Tommy" he called out, the blonde shot up, panicked by the surprised tone of his friend's voice. He jogged over to Sapnap, who was now closely examining the vines. Tommy frowned, "does this look familiar to you?" Sapnap asked. The blonde felt his stomach drop. He felt so nauseous that he nearly threw up his just downed meal onto the grass.
All he did was dry heaving, and a lot of gagging. Sapnap ran to his aid. "Holy shit Tommy, are you okay?" he went scouring through his inventory. "Is it your blood sugar? I'm sure i have some berries in here somewhere"
Tommy swatted his hand away as the nausea ebbed away slowly.
"I'm fine, I'm okay big man" he muttered, "I guess we found something" he joked. Sapnap turned back to the vines. Running his hand along the plant. "This is so familiar, it's scratching at my brain," Tommy admitted. Sapnap kept fiddling, before quickly straightening up, he looked back at Tommy before taking another step towards the mountain he was almost pressed against the stone when all of the sudden it opened there was a screech of metal, like it hadn't been touched in years. Sapnap pointed to a grey blob covered in vines a couple blocks away.
"I'm not Sam, but that is definitely an observer." he said walking inside and admiring the mechanics. "This is the most impressive bout of redstone work I've ever seen, and it's so high up too". Tommy stepped inside, nearly falling over a toy. He picked it up, A moth. He let out a shocked choked sob. Sapnap turned around seeing Tommy cradle a small stuffed moth.
"Everything is up high because a child lived here" Tommy said quietly, as he looked around the room it had two beds in the corner. The right size for small children, there were wooden swords and drawings in crayon and charcoal. There was another bed a lot larger for whoever cared for the kids. There was a book on the bed, Sapnap flicked through it, most pages were too faded to read or had rotted away with time. He turned to see Tommy now crouched by the wall, it was a crude drawing of two children holding hands with a tall person. There were three words underneath.
"That's enchanting table," Sapnap said, crouching down next to Tommy to examine the scrawls.
"I can't read it, my enhancing table is rusty" Tommy said. Sapnap squinted
"That one says brothers, that one says play." He paused, pulling his hand away. "These two smudges were names" he said his voice dropping to a whisper
"How do you know?" Tommy asked. Sapnap pointed to the last word which was directly under the smallest of the three figures.
"That one is a name" he said softly,
"What? What does it say?" Tommy shifted restlessly
"Tommy" Sapnap said
"What?" the boy snapped back
"No that's what it says, that is Tommy" Sapnap explained "which means"
"Those are my brothers" Tommy said, standing up his hand clutching the moth toy. "Let's go," he said suddenly.
"Woah, you just found out you had brothers and you now want to leave?!" Sapnap stood up. Tommy headed towards the door shaking his head.
"Puffy was right, I'm not ready for this. I need to make amends with those I know first before chasing after two people I'm not even sure are alive" he said. "But I'm taking Clementine," he said, waving the toy around. The two stepped out of the hidden room and out into the sunlight.
"Clementine?" Tommy nodded
"I remembered her name, that's all I remember. And the numbers 8-0o." he said. It was Sapnap's turn to listen intently, "when I'm ready. I'll go looking for them. Just not now"
The wall closed up the rooms behind them.
"At least we got our adventure," Sapnap said.
"And some answers," Tommy added.
"Now we need a cover story"
"Why?"
"So we don't die when we get back to Kinoko Kingdom"
