Ranboo shivered. That fucker had brothers, an inhuman grunt came from his throat causing Dream to laugh. Why was he so amused? He stood up, lending a hand out for Ranboo to take. The hybrid pushed himself up without any assistance, Dream shrugged brushing his hand off and started to walk away, he stopped for a second waiting for Ranboo to follow. He did. He quickly caught up to the shorter man, the two travelled in silence for a few minutes.
"You didn't ask," Dream said quietly as he placed his mask back onto his face. Ranboo turned to peer at him.
"What?"
"Who are my brothers?" he asked. Ranboo shrugged
"Foolish?" he answered. Dream snickered, shaking his head.
"Yes and no. He is my brother, but he's not what I meant. Do you want me to give you a hint?" he asked. "He's standing next to me," he said, not giving Ranboo a chance to answer. Taller tentatively pointed to himself, hoping he was wrong. Dream nodded, Ranboo sighed in defeat.
"Oh don't be so down, I'm not your enemy. I never really was." Dream sighed, patting him on the back in a genuine way. He whipped around, eyes narrowed, jerking himself away from Dream's hand. He's trying to get in your head.
He was in your head.
"Then why were you manipulating me with my own thoughts". He scowled, Dream froze looking at him. He removed his mask, the toxic green meeting his own heterochromic eyes.
"I was trying to help you,'' he said steadily. Although his face was calm, his eyes were alight with anger. "I let you know exactly what was going on, about your enderwalk. That you helped me. Now I know, I pretended that it wasn't me. But you're smart. I knew you were, I knew you wouldn't believe that" he spat out. He was furious, yet the anger wasn't directed at Ranboo in the slightest.
Dream's eyes softened as he gazed at Ranboo.
"You've been hurt, they've fucked up badly. You hated me. And you were there, you helped them get me out of that hell hole" Ranboo's face curled into something hideous. Eyes glazing with a purple sheen for a split second as he battled a sudden wave of fury.
"You don't know anything," he said slowly. Dream shook his head
"No I don't. I don't, but I know you. And something must have changed drastically for you to even listen to me now." Ranboo shuddered, "Was it Tubbo?" Dream asked softly.
Fear
There was fear in the green eyes as Ranboo clenched his fists, his body fully tensing. His muscles went limp. Dream enveloped him in a sudden hug.
"I'm sorry, nothing should happen to you" Dream looked up at him. "I promised that I would protect the two of you. That no harm would come to you or him. Yet here we are, I'm sorry Ranboo. I wish I could have changed it" he mumbled. Ranboo breathed in sharply.
"Who is he?" he whispered. Dream's eyes teared up, he let go and slumped to the ground.
"Take a wild guess" he muttered, his head hanging low, ashamed. He didn't know why but Ranboo knelt down beside him in a comforting manner.
"Tommy?" he asked, Dream made a choked noise nodding.
"I didn't mean to kill him," he said, "oh god. I fucked up so bad." his voice wobbled. "I deserved what Quackity did," he said. The nausea Ranboo felt shook him, but the anger that still hadn't died down flaring at the mention of Quackity. He felt terrible.
"What did he do?" he asked, Dream looked up
"Tortured me of course" he muttered.
Ranboo knew the phrase of seeing red with rage, but he was legitimately seeing purple. It took a few deep breaths and some words from Dream, he calmed.
And suddenly his head was clear. Again he sprung back,
"Stop! Stop Twisting me! I'm not going to feel sympathy for you getting what you deserved!" he screamed. Dream stood, his calm facade falling to pieces completely.
"Yeah, I got what I deserved. I learnt from it. Yes I killed Tommy, I felt. Terrible. But you know I can admit that sometimes people need to be taught a lesson. That lesson isn't always good, but you know what the kid's going to be better off now. I'm coming back to help my family"
"SHUT UP"
"No, you haven't done anything wrong. You nearly got punished for choosing people over sides, you valued life over ideals. You wanted peace. You never deserve the shit you went though, yet not once have I seen you complain or break. These people have hurt you Ranboo:
Ranboo covered his ears, turning away, chanting for Dream to stop. He didn't know what to feel about the man revealed to be his brother.
"I'm not going to sit by and watch you and Tommy get hurt by people, You never deserved this punishment"
If he was quiet maybe he would stop talking. Dream would Shut up
"I won't sit by, and neither will you. You can't now Ranboo"
Please
"How do you feel?" Dream asked softly. The tone contrasted with his fierce words a sentence before. How did he feel?
Angry, it hurt. It burnt. It made his head buzz. He knew his judgment wouldn't be clear, yet he didn't care. He thought of Tubbo, he had hurt Ranboo. He took Michael when the piglin toddler was all he had. Because Ranboo had had enough of all the shit going wrong.
"How do you feel?" Dream repeated
"Angry," he replied. Dream hugged him again.
"Relax" he murmured. Ranboo did, why? "Breath" he did. Stop listening. "Close your eyes" no. Ranboo closed his eyes, feeling peace. His anger was gone, everything was gone. All of the sudden he couldn't even muster a grain of negative emotion or positive for that matter. He opened his eyes, calmly looking down on Dream who was now standing by a makeshift water source. Why water?
He looked proud, impressed even.
"Ranboo?" he asked as though checking if he was really there.
"Yes?" Dream seemed satisfied. He beckoned him over, without a thought he complied.
"How do you feel?" he asked again. Ranboo paused thoughtfully
"Fine," Dream nodded, acknowledging the response.
"What do you feel?" new question,
"Nothing," he replied. Nothing, he felt so at peace. Dream nodded again. Why so many questions? Ranboo's eyes trailed to a grass block. He wanted it now.
"I think I cured your enderwalk problems" Dream said, Ranboo raised an eyebrow. Weird. As if detecting the doubt, Dream motioned towards the water source. Oh.
Ranboo looked into the water, being cautious not to get too close. Oh, so that's why Dream is being so weird now. Instead of looking at a half enderman and half dreamon face with two different colored eyes, he was looking at two glowing violet orbs. He looked like an enderman.
He looked powerful.
Dream removed the water as Ranboo looked up, a second later Dream snapped his head in the same direction his brother was looking.
"Do you hear that?" he asked, Ranboo nodded. Twigs snapping and the rustling of leaves alerting the two of someone running as fast as he could towards them,
"Our guest has arrived"
Minutes later, blonde hair came bolting towards them. His sword ready, the first thing Tommy did was slash at Dream. To his surprise, it was Ranboo who defended the unmasked figure. Dream quickly slipped on the mask, stepping away.
"Ranboo?" Tommy stuttered out.
"That's enough Tommy," he said coldly. There was fear in Tommy's eyes, Ranboo had to admit, it felt good. Although Tommy shouldn't have to be afraid, they're equal.
"Dream what the fuck did you did to him?"
