Ignorant bitch

When the lesson ends, I stay behind. I don't want to see the looks of people here. I never thought Hogwarts would be such a horrible place to be in. Bella's family was right. "Olivia" the kind voice of Hermione makes me stop. "I'm sorry for our behaviour. We were just...surprised by your House and well, now, by your mom." "She's not my mom." "Okay. I just wanted to say...we're sorry. Really. Do you want to hang out with us in the weekend? We could go to Hogsmeade, you know. It's a-" "I know what it is" I snap. Hermione seems taken aback and the arrival of Draco doesn't exactly cheer her up. "I see Black here already put you in your place, didn't she" Draco says, amused. Hermione rolls her eyes, quickly smiles at me and then goes away, reaching her friends who are waiting for her not too far.

I don't look up to watch Draco. "What do you want?" I ask. "I think you mean 'thank you'." "I think I mean 'fuck you'." He smiles, taking my chin to force me to look into his light irises. "Uh uh uh, Black here is just like her mother." "She is not. My. Mother." "Is that why you rarely came by? Bella, I know, isn't the ideal, cozy, lovely mom, but-" "What do you want?" I repeat, placing my hazel eyes into his. "I don't understand. I was defending you." I've never seen Draco so...hurt? "Defending me?" I ask, loudly. Some third year students turn around and watch us closely.

"By telling everyone the one thing I didn't want anyone, ever, to know about?" "Why? Bella's name is powerful." "Bella's name is scary." "It's better to be feared than to be loved." I look at him, and I hate myself because I feel some tears urging to roll down my cheeks. "This is exactly what people like you like to tell themselves before going to bed." "People like me?" Draco is now shouting but still whispering. More people are now watching, we're giving a real show.

"Yes. Cold hearted assholes." Some students snicker and I sigh. "You don't know anything, anything" he mouthes "about me, yet you still insult me? Can you see now? Can you see what it is like to be me?" I feel like he's fighting not to cry and I'm suddenly softened. "Draco-" I say, touching his arm. He immediately scrolls me out. "Shut up. You're exactly like your parents. An ignorant bitch." That said, he storms out and leaves me alone, immersed in whispers and looks.

It's not like I've just lost the chance of talking with the most popular boy of my House, right? Right. I did. But, as I understand pretty fast, it's not the same thing everyone thinks.

"Did you just fuck off Draco Malfoy?" "You are, like, my idol" "You are as strong as your mother!" "You're literally a goddess" students are saying. "He deserves it, it's not your fault" a curly hair says. She's got an annoying voice. "He's just a bossy, bitchy asshole who-" "Don't." I stop her. "Don't talk about him like that. I was just defending myself. I don't think what I said." "Well, everyone else does!" she smiles, and everyone agrees. "What's your name?" I ask, assuming my coldest face. She grins. "I'm Romilda Vane. One of Harry Potter's friends" she lifts up her prominent chin. I stare at her, forcing my warm eyes to become as icy as gold. "Really? Harry's never talked to me about you." "He doesn't even know you" she smiles, nervously. I'm starting to feel a little guilty but I keep going. "He doesn't even know you" I point out. "I've known him for years. Just like I've done with Draco, who's nothing of the things you said. So shut up." The students around Romilda split up, half amused at me treating her this way, half disappointed in seeing the 'hero' isn't such a hero as they imagined. "I'm sorry" I say. "After all, I'm just a Slytherin. What did you expect from me?"

What I don't expect, is Hermione coming out of nowhere, grabbing my arm, making a disgusted face at the sight of all the students around me, and taking me around the edge. "Olivia." She has the same tone Bella uses on me when I tell her something she doesn't approve at all. "Harry and I saw what happened with Draco. Can you spend a bit of time with us? Tell us more about... everything?" I look behind her and see Harry and the ginger one looking at me with expectancy. But honestly, I've had enough.

"No. I mean, not now. I'm tired, I need to rest." Hermione is surprised, but nods gently. "Of course. Let's meet up someday then, shall we? In the Gryffindor common hall?" "I can't enter that. I don't know the password." She whispers the word in my ear. "And if the Lady doesn't let you in... just tell her who your mother is." She grins and then leaves with Harry and the red one.

I breath deeply and go into the Slytherin hall, but I'm in no way interested in sleeping. I want to find Draco and tell him what's just happened before anyone else does. I don't want things to get misunderstood.

I walk around looking for his light hair and pale skin, but I see him nowhere. Actually, I see no one nowhere. This place is desert. When I decide to go looking for Draco or anyone else breathing that isn't the creepy Bloody Baron who's staring at me thinking, I realise he's probably laying in bed, doing what I should do now: rest.

Suddenly, I hear a shrieking laugh and a murmured chuckle. I turn and see Pansy Parkinson holding Draco's arm. Pansy is clearly drunk and even Draco seems to have drank a bit, but he's definitely got more auto-control than her. His gaze wonders in the room before finding me and when he does, Draco's whole expression becomes cold and distant. He fakes a laugh looking at Pansy near her, who is practically falling on him, and I don't think that's the alcohol's fault.
