You'll be sorry now.

DRACO'S POV

My parents have always told me that I could do great things, if only I followed their lead. I could only learn magic if my mother taught me. I could only find a girl with my dad's help. I could only have success if I stayed with my family.

I never thought I could do something on my own. My own friends aren't true, and the only one I could count on was Blaise.

Until, Olivia came into my life.

And the thought of Potter's dirty hands touching her, his lips stealing her taste from me, from her; the thought of that disgusting man who is supposed to be her fucking father thinking of her that way... all of this shit makes the hair on my neck stand up.

So what am I supposed to do? I couldn't punish Rodolphus, but Potter I can.

I rush into the room where I was minutes ago, and unsurprisingly I find Potter there, staring at the floor, like he was frozen in time and space. Many things I can say of him, but not that he isn't brave. Or stupid, maybe.

"Malfoy, I didn't-" he probably would have continued if I hadn't taken him from his shirt collar, lifting him slightly. We're both slim, but I'm taller. And I've watched Crabbe and Goyle do this for five years.

"You don't touch her" I spit between my teeth "ever. again." He doesn't seem frightened, but resigned. I don't want his resignation. I want my Olivia's smile to come back.

"She's not some kind of object you can treat the way you want, then toss aside, then grab again. She's a fucking human being. You said that earlier, she's innocent and kind, and you dare-" my grip gets harder on him "You dare ruin that with your hands? With your words?" I can already feel my free hand prickle. "Weren't you the Gryffindor? You are a fucking bag of shit. I just hope you realise it and never, ever again make the same mistake, because you'll be sorry then."

I pause. "You'll be sorry now."

And my punch goes straight between his nose and his lip, strong, hard, clean. I can't help but smile when I see the red blood appearing from his left nostril and the upper lip, a small cut on it. I punch him again in the stomach, and I hear him coughing, broken in two, on himself. But I can't see him. I can't see anything. Only the red, red blood and Olivia's hurt, disappointed eyes.

I punch him again, on his right cheekbone now. He flinches and closes his eyes, but he hasn't said a word. He doesn't even make a single noise. But I want him to cry when I leave this room.

I'm ready to use my knee to hit him in the ribs, but a small voice makes me startle. "Draco?" Olivia says, entering the room. "Don't, Draco- Oh my God-" she sees Harry's face and I look at her, trying to understand what's going on in her. "I didn't- I didn't ask for this. Please, Draco, let's go. I didn't-" she can't continue because she's shocked at me hitting him in the ribs, right where I wanted. Then on the face. On his jaw. Harry's face is almost unrecognisable.

"DRACO!" Olivia suddenly shouts, her voice steady. "STOP!"

I turn again, to look at her, my hands covered in blood.

"I've been saying your name a thousand times..." What? I didn't hear anything. "...but you didn't even stop for a second. What, am I the excuse you needed to beat him up after all this time?" she asks, angrily, and weakly I realise.

I put Potter down, he stumbles on his feet and has to touch the white wall to stand on his feet.

Then Olivia looks at him, and leaves the room. I run behind her, without thinking.

"Please come here, Via" I say. She doesn't stop and I have to grab her arm to make her turn. She flinches at me, and I realise with a startle that she's now scared of me, like she is of Rodolphus and Harry.

"You didn't even... listen to me! Like I wasn't even there!" she says angrily, her small body trembling. "Via-" "I asked you to stop! I just wanted you there for me, not for him! I needed you!" she says. "I needed you" she repeats, lowly, and I'm about to touch her cheek but she sharply gets away from me.

"STOP CALLING ME VIA!" she adds, raising her voice, tears now falling down her face. "YOU ALL HURT ME! I TRUSTED YOU! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE KIND!" I hope nobody is around, except Potter of course, who's probably listening to this whole conversation.

"I didn't think you would do this" she murmurs, and I can't say whether she's talking about me or Potter or her father. Whatever it is, I have to bite my tongue to stop the sadness from coming inside my throat.

But I cannot give her up, not now, not after all this. So I step ahead, and grab her arm, gently. She steps away, again, but I continue. "You are right, Via, I'm sorry. You didn't deserve any of this. But it happened, and all I can say is I promise to be with you. I will not leave you, not now, not ever." I pause, looking down, then again searching for her warm, beautiful eyes.

"You will always have me." She seems frozen in time, but her breath is raising and lowering furiously, and her tears are still falling.

"I want to have you" she whispers "and I want you to have me."

"Can I touch you?" I ask. She nods after a few moments, and I embrace her small body in my arms, placing my head on hers, smiling very slightly at the feeling of her heartbeat touching mine.

Weeks later, all we do is study for our OWLS and spend time together. I've never been any happier that Olivia was sorted into Slytherin, because it's the only way we are able to see each other. We can also study together, although I prefer to do everything quickly and carefully and read in my mind, while she likes to take clean notes, make schemes, and repeat the topics she studies. But I would give up my beloved silence just to listen to her all day.

Because I just love her more. I will always love her more.
