DRACO'S POV
I watch her carefully to understand whether it's a joke but she looks serious.
"If it's too much I understand but I thought-" "I was about to ask you" I say, sincerely. She smiles. "Really? So I will meet your family? And-" "See your mother" I add. She freezes. "Shit" she murmurs under her breath. "I'm sorry" I say "you're free not to come, Via."
"Of course I'll come" she thinks "did you just call me Via?" I smile at her, placing my hands on her waist. "Can I kiss you?" I ask, staring at her lips. Her mouth answers me, placing itself on my lips.
My tongue starts to caress hers, and I hear her breath becoming faster, feeling her skin growing hotter. She moans sheepishly, sending shivers down my spine. If Olivia can do this just with a shy sound, I can't imagine what-
She steps back slowly, but I don't let her waist go. "Don't leave me this time" she says. I feel guilty for the pain I'm sure I caused her but smile brightly. "I won't" I reply. She sticks out a pinky finger to me and I chuckle. I twinge mine around her, kissing her again quickly. "Promise" I whisper against her lips.
The following weeks are exactly what I believe Potter and his friends feel at Hogwarts every day. Olivia and I are always together, and even if we try to kiss just in private, because otherwise 'Potter would get hurt, as would any other girl who's crushing on you' as Via said, I can't seem to keep my eyes off her. I even started to hang out with her Slytherin friends, the Greengrass sisters.
"Good afternoon, students" says one day Professor Slughorn. I can't really stand him. He's near a small glass ampule on his desk.
"Today we're looking at a very powerful potion. Before telling you what it is, Mrs Granger please put your hand down, I'm going to have a volunteer to have a little experiment here. Let's see" he looks though us all, and my hand touches Via's.
"Mrs Black, are you up to it? I believe your father, uncle and all your family really would have been." "I'm nothing like my family" she mutters "but okay" she says out loud. I give her a half smile.
"Now, if you would please come here, near this desk. Don't get too close to the test tube." I'm suddenly worried that the potion might be dangerous for Olivia, but at the same time, given her status and knowing Slughorn's costume of 'serving the most powerful' - I'm talking for experience - I don't think he would do anything to harm her.
"Now, if you will please tell me what you can smell."
Distracting me from Olivia breathing deeply are Potter and Granger talking quietly.
"She will smell me" Potter says, and even if I am clueless on what he's talking about, I don't like it."I can smell..." Olivia falters, then blinks her eyes. "Old books, peppermint, cologne and green apples..." I startle. Some students have turned to look at me.
"Very good indeed, Mrs Black" Slughorn says. "You can return to Mr Malfoy now" he grins.
"What you just came close to is Amorthentia, one of the most powerful love potions that exists. Its particular characteristic consists- Well, Mrs Granger, if you insist-" Granger starts to speak, lowering her hand which she's been practically waving until now.
"The smell of Amorthentia depends on each person, based on what or who that person particularly likes or love." "Five points to Gryffindor" Slughorn sighs "and yes, that's exactly it, Mrs Granger."
Now I realise Potter's sentence. And I also realise what Olivia's answer to the potion means.
I look at her, trying to hold her hand but she refuses, ignoring my look. I'm confused, and am even more when she asks to be excused from the lesson and walks out the classroom. "Mr Malfoy, you should see if she's alright." "I could go instead Professor" Potter raises his hand, smiling at him. I step ahead, start to speak but then run out the class before anyone else can before me. I need to be the one helping her, the same way she did with me.
"Olivia" I call quietly, because I know she likes no drama. I can't see her anywhere, so I try to look in the girl bathrooms. I immediately hear Myrtle's voice screeching at me, "Draco, what are you up to here?" and I decide I have to deal with her if I want to find Via.
"Myrtle, have you seen Olivia Black here?" I ask, trying to be kind. "Ooh, looks like even the cold hearted boy found someone to melt it eventually." I sigh and roll my eyes. "Forget it." "I have seen her actually... she went in then ran out again, in the Ravenclaw's dorm directions."
I walk away as fast as I can and I can hear her shouting "You should thank me!"
When I arrive in front of the Ravenclaw's door, I realise I'm not aware of the password, while Olivia probably had some friend inside. That's what I get for being a 'cold hearted boy', I guess.
"Olivia!" I say, knocking loudly on the wooden door. "Please! Tell me what happened."
I can't hear anything coming from inside, but suddenly the door opens slowly. I see a blonde head who's gesturing for me to come inside and follower her example.
"She's very shaken, be kind" the blonde girl murmurs in a soft voice, then hurries up the stairs that probably are directed to the sleeping dorm. "I'm sorry, I know she didn't want to hurt you. I'm Luna Lovegood by the way" she smiles at me and offers me a hand, which I shake, confused. "I'm-" "I know!" she exclaims happily. "She told me, everyone knows."
Without another word or thinking about the last sentence, we arrive at the dorm, where I see Via sitting on a bed, her hands on her face. "Olly, he's here. I'm going to go now. I have some Gerbils to look after."
"Olivia" I sit near her, and she doesn't make a sound. I hold my breath, and can hear her lungs fighting to have a bit of air. Her shoulders are trembling but she's clearly trying to hide it.
"Why are you crying" I murmur. "I'm not" she says lowly. I put my hands on hers, wet, and gently try to pull them away from her face, which results to be slightly red, puffy and definitely wet from tears.
"I'm sorry" she says, looking down. "I'm sorry" she repeats.
"For what?" I ask, holding on to her hands and wrists.
"Because I took off. I panicked. I-"
"Why?"
"Because it... it was you who I smelled in the Amorthentia."
"I know" the ends of my mouth curl up a bit. "I would have smelled you too" I add, whispering.
