The cloth made Kenma's forehead cold. But the rest of his body felt like it was put into an oven. Kuroo had not come by since that morning.
He has probably gotten more sleep. It had been a couple of days since that had happened. It almost felt disappointing to not see Kuroo come in the door in the morning. Kenma didn't have much else to do than playing his games and doing the homework that the teachers were sending. But he had started to finish some of the games, and because of all the spare time, he actually did his homework right away.
I know I've always dreamt of not having school, but this is hell. He also had minimal contact with Kuroo. Only a few texts updating him on how the team were doing. He wouldn't admit it to Kuroo, but he actually missed playing volleyball. It would've been the best way to distract from all his thoughts. Being home sick meant it was plenty of time for thoughts to gather, without much distraction. Every time Kenma beat a game, he always got the urge to send Kuroo a message about it, before remembering they weren't talking much anymore.
I've done it. I've pushed him away. Maybe he is better on without me. He didn't register the tears before a drop fell on his hand.
I just want to talk to him. He stared at his phone. What would they talk about? Things had been weird for a while now. In the corner of the room he could spot the sweater Kuroo had left behind on accident. The tears started flowing more. His breathing got shallower, and it felt like his chest was collapsing.
Can't breathe. He could barely see between all the tears.
What's going on? His whole body was hurting.
I am scared. This had never happened before. He felt like he was going to pass out from the pain.
Kuroo, help me.

"Great practice, people!" Everyone started cleaning up the equipment they had been using. It was still weird having to practice without Kenma. It really felt empty playing without him. Kuroo got changed quickly. He had promised to walk home with his girlfriend, trying to make some time for her.
"Have a good night, lover boy!" Yaku said as Kuroo was on his way out. His smirk was as big as always. Kuroo chuckled before closing the door. She was waiting by the gate. It was like her positivity made her glow.
"How was practice?" She asked, grinning as they started to walk. Kuroo shrugged his shoulders.
"It went okay, still kind of weird since Kenma is sick." She nodded along.
"Oh, yeah, your setter, right? It's always weird when a vital part of something suddenly isn't there!" Her enthusiasm made it impossible to not smile. She didn't seem to know much about sports, but at least she tried. She started talking about how her classes had been like. Kuroo tried paying attention, before his phone buzzed.
A text? From Kenma? That's rare nowadays.
-Kuroo, help me. His eyes widened in horror. He stopped in his tracks. She stopped when she realised he wasn't next to her.
"Is everything okay?" He could feel his hands shake. She gave him a concerned look.
"I-I am so sorry, I gotta run. It's an emergency!" He started running before she could answer. Normally, a text like that could mean so much, all from needing help with homework, to needing help with buying something. But after the distance appeared, Kenma had not asked for help about anything. And for something like this to come out of nowhere, it meant it had to be something serious. He tried sending him texts, but none of them got read. The wind hit Kuroo in the face like a whip as he was running. When he could finally see the house, he felt a lump in his throat. No lights were on. No one else were home.
Shit, did I even bring the key? He rummaged his pockets. At the bottom of his jacket, he felt the jingle of the spare keys.
Oh thank God. After unlocking the door, he flew up the stairs to Kenma's room.
"Kenma!" He froze as he opened the door. There, in the middle of the floor, was Kenma. It looked as if he had collapsed. Kuroo took a few careful steps inside the room. His legs were shaking.
What do I do?
