The alarm was ringing at full volume, forcing Kuroo out of his sleep. Groggily he turned it off before getting up from the bed. Stretching and yawning on his way to the bathroom. A quick look in the mirror revealed bags under his eyes.
That's what I get for staying up late.
The night before he had called Kenma to make sure he was alright. Kenma had seemed better than in a long time, which had made Kuroo very happy. They had been talking until late at night, when Kuroo had fallen asleep out of exhaustion. He had originally wanted to make up a plan for how to let go of his girlfriend in the least painful way, but Kenma had been more important.
Splashing some cold water in his face was not helping his tired looks. He shrugged his shoulders before getting dressed.
Would it be an asshole move to break up with someone right before school starts? He thought to himself as he was eating his breakfast.
She will probably hate me either way, I guess. Kuroo couldn't believe how he had gotten himself into this mess. He hadn't wanted to admit his own feelings, so he had really just gone for the first and best thing, huh? He resisted the urge to smack his head on the table. Getting his mom worried was the last thing he needed right now. His legs felt heavy as he was walking towards the entrance hall.
What I'd give to be sick right now. His heart started racing like crazy as he opened the door.
It felt like his shoes were filled with lead. He really didn't want to face this. His girlfriend was already at their meeting spot. Kuroo continued walking towards her, trying to untangle the knot forming in his throat.
"Hey." He mumbled as he got closer.
"Hey." She answered back, barely looking at him.
Without saying more, she started walking, Kuroo having to follow lead. As they were walking, Kuroo glanced down at her. Keeping her gaze forward on the road, her face seemed unbothered.
Have I done something wrong already? He started scratching his neck, trying to remember if he had already hinted about the situation in any way. As Kuroo was thinking, he could feel her taking short glances up at him, still with that unbothered face. Was she getting closer to him? He couldn't tell. They kept walking. The silence was unusual, she always seemed so talkative. Kuroo's thoughts kept churning.
She is in a bad mood; I can see that much. He took another glance at her, meeting her eyes before they quickly turned to look the other direction. As he turned his eyes towards the road again, he could see the tiniest pout form on her face.
Would it be so bad to do it now? He bit the inside of his lip. Before he could decide on anything, they reached the school gates.
"I'll see you later," Kuroo said, starting to walk in the direction of the club room. She hesitated a bit before she took a step towards him.
"Please, meet me in the first break, in the hallway next to your classroom." Before Kuroo could react, she was jogging her way to the school's entrance. He stood there for a moment, baffled.
I feel like I'm in trouble.

The alarm was beeping. Kenma reached his hand out to stop it, only for the phone to fall on the ground. Usually something like that would've made him want to just go back to sleep, but not this time. He was in a too good of a mood.
Last night Kuroo had called him up to ask how he was doing. Since it had been so long since they had talked normally, they had ended up talking all night, until Kuroo had fallen asleep while still on the phone. They had been talking as if none of the awkwardness had ever been there. As Kuroo had fallen asleep, Kenma decided he wanted to get back to school. He wanted everything to go back to normal.
Or maybe with a small change.
He decided to skip the morning practice since he had just recovered from the flu. His school uniform was not wrinkly for once, only because it had been hanging up this entire time. Because of how late it had gotten the night before, he should've been more tired, but he was too excited to get back to school.
That's something I never thought I would be. He tried hiding his smile as he walked out the front door.
As he started walking, he realised there were way more students on the road than he was used to.
I'm not used to go to school this late, I see. He tried staying away from the groups of people, not wanting anyone to pay him any attention. Usually he could hide behind Kuroo in crowds. He kept wondering how Kuroo was doing in practice.
Was he thinking about Kenma? He still couldn't tell how Kuroo was feeling about him. But by how he had acted on the day Kenma had passed out, it had given him hope that it was something along the lines of how Kenma was feeling about Kuroo. Just thinking about it made Kenma feel all warm. He was hoping to surprise Kuroo in the break, by showing up at his classroom.
He must've been so bored without me.
As he sat down by his desk a few of his classmates welcomed him back. He nodded quietly before finding his books in his bag. As the teacher entered the room, he happily wished Kenma welcome back to class before taking attendance. Kenma again did a quiet nod before turning away shyly. He could feel everyone staring at him.
It felt like an eternity before the teacher told them to open their books. Kenma was staring down in his book. He couldn't concentrate at all. The thought of Kuroo kept racing in his mind. Was he going to be surprised? Maybe he was going to be really happy to see Kenma back at school. Kenma tried hiding the smile slowly forming on his lips before anyone noticed.
